Debate: Quest Bars
How many feel good about themselves when eating a Quest bar?
How many feel they are on track when doing so?
Just out of curiosity, how many regularly include Quest bars as part of their pre/post workout strategy?
The company is spending big bucks promoting this product to the body building community.
Is this a positive influence on us? Or yet another convenience snack fortified just the right way to dress up this candy bar and make it presentable to us at a high price?
Your thoughts please......................

I take a few boxes when I travel. I'm only home about 7-10 days a month. Whether I'm stuck in a flight for 6 hours or driving to and from appointments, I find it a convenient snack. Unlike other protein bars that are really nothing more than candy bars with a little protein added in, I like that the net carbs are so low and the fiber higher. Certainly not better than a proper meal but it seems ok as a quick go to snack.
The company recently launched a potato chip line. I haven't looked at that product and I rarely eat chips but hopefully that move doesn't cast them simply as a healthier snack food company.

The macros in these particular bars are much better than most out there. I think they're fine for supplementing or if you're in a bind. I added them to breakfast for about a month a while back. After a while though, I got tired of the way they tasted. Not to mention, they're expensive.

I feel there is more to the bars than the label shows.

First there was a lawsuit against Quest for the bars not having in them what the package said they did. Now as a very last resort I'll have one when I can't get a proper meal. If I'm cutting though they are not on the meal plan that's for sure.

you stole my thunder!
(but that's ok)
I was trying to make a point.
The point I'm trying to make is that really, any sort of food processing degrades the food.
Just like I don't read those slick glossy body builder magazines,
I don't go for the slick glossy candy bars that are supposed to be good for me also.
These two things I just mentioned, the magazine and the candy bar, what do they have in common?

Thanks gentlemen. Will make for a good read.
Agree with you TR. The nutraceutical industry is a multi-billion dollar industry for a reason and it's not because the products deliver on their promises, rather it's the creative marketing.
Geesh, can't recall the last time I put money down on a fitness/body building mag. Been a very long damn time.

I think the extent of my involvement with a body building mag is when at the barbershop waiting, and out of boredom there they are on the table along with the other "fish and game" type magazines. So i'll pick one up, and sure enough, 80% of the mag's energy is spent on some BS product or another. Every once in a while, there will be a quality article, and then I read it and it's already something we've discussed here.

Exactly because regular peanut butter is so inconvenient. I switched to powdered peanut butter and gained 20 lb solid muscle in a month and my dick grew an inch. Thanks powdered peanut butter

I prefer the real deal - you know, the one's being recalled for salmonella contamination in California last week.
Actually, when I don't use almond butter, the only peanut butter I use is the pure unprocessed peanut butter made fresh and with no salt or sugar added.
Anyone here ever make their own peanut butter. I would guess Austinite may have.

I enjoy a QB once or twice a week. I usually eat them instead of candy. If i cut a QB or two into small pieces and eat them instead of candy i get satisfied. My GF like to have a snack on fridays or saturdays so instead of eating candy like chocolate or chips we can just slice up some QB, i think its great to use it like that. Though i would never drop a meal and eat a QB instead. My GF use to use QB as a extra protein-on-the-go. She always have some in her purse in case she is on tour and suddenly skips a meal or something, just to fill out a crappy meal with some extra protein she says.
The thing i like with QB is the flavor and the low sugars. I dont get that "sugar-high-feeling" after eating 2-3 QB, but if i eat 2-3 candy bars i get all high on sugar.

I think the only time I eat something like that is when I donate blood. oem. they have these large baskets filled with something like "Grandma's cookies" or something like that. Shit, I must have had 4 packs of two cookies each.
But I don't try to pretend they are good for me. I know they are not. Yeah, one of those guilty pleasure moments............
