Moving to Kyiv, Ukraine September 3rd Anyone with Experience?

I'm going to Kyiv, Ukraine for 8 months for work. Does anyone have any experience in the city? Particularly with gyms and ex-pat community, how to get hooked in, etc. From what I've read, the gyms are almost double that of other comparable Western European gyms, but offer equivalent services. Anyone who has visited or lived in Kyiv or Ukraine in general for a decent amount of time I'd like to hear from... I also may be spending some time in Kharkiv...

The fighting is confined to the Donetsk Basin, also called the Donbas... It's primarily in Donetsk, Lugansk, and as of yesterday Novoazovsk.... Kyiv and the West of the country are relatively secure, although you do need to be smart because there are security concerns in any foreign country, but more so with a large number of Russian interlocutors running amok inside... my work may take me to the East in some dangerous areas, but that's what it's about, no one is making me do what I do... I know I won't be taking an airplane eastward, that's for sure lol..

Good luck in Ukraine. Im currently in Estonia for a Few weeks. Obama comes here tomorrow apparently to reassure Baltic countries that Russia cant push them around as Russia is doing to Ukraine currently. Anyway, interesting times in these parts, good luck again. Be safe.

Oh please do tell what the people there think about Obama and what he says to them. Do they believe anything that comes out of his mouth anymore? Most of us have learned to expect the exact opposite of anything he says.

I'll ask my father in law here about that and report back. But I get the impression they are pretty cynical about american help.

I will say though that they don't hold back on their reporting on TV, while Americans try to be overly careful on how they report and what they report on, that can be debated of course but Ill give you a funny example.

We watched a news report from Estonia yesterday on TV from when Kim Jong Ill died. The report was mocking how the entire country of N Korea cried for 12 days and nights and surrounded his coffin crying, men , women, children, soldiers, etc., the entire report focused on all the crying... That was all.

Meanwhile, I never even heard of that happening, being from the US. The only thing I recall is the death. I guess american media is overly cautious on certain topics. I was laughing quite a bit though seeing it. Very theatrical performances by all the North Koreans.

Estonia is such a small country that they don't have to worry when and what they report it seems.

They are smart to be cynical. He has let down most all of our allies when they needed help. Only help he gives is to the future enemies or a small show that is meaningless.

I flew there on route to Israel.

The airport is very basic but it seems cheap there COLD THOUGH!!!!

    Their summer seems good.

The architecture in Kiev is very unique.

Also it is very cheap there
