France: Paris Opera cast refuse to perform for veiled woman

Paris Opera cast refuse to perform for veiled woman - Telegraph

In my opinion, France has gone too far with this one.

Not agreeing with other people's beliefs is one thing. Prohibiting them from practicing these beliefs just because you disagree with them is another.

How can we pretend to be ''democratic'' countries where people have freedom of belief, and yet do things like this?

    What do you guys think?

    What do I think?

Well, for starters, the veiled woman is violating the law. So from a legal position, the opera was within their rights to insist. I have no issues with that.

Secondly, this is not a casual veil from my understanding. it hides the face. you literally have no idea who is there, even if male or female.

I have lived amongst Muslims. No issues there. I'm a guest in their country, so I must abide by their laws.

But, I would expect the same from them. When a guest in someone else's country, you must abide by their laws. Reasonable enough, no?

Do you understand the concerns the French have?

    This isn't an isolated case.

And the native born French are concerned.

And I can't say they are entirely wrong, either.

You mean like the preachers who are sued if they wont marry gay couples or caterers if they dont want to cater to a certain group? A lot of things have gone to far. They start out as anti hate but then if you dont agree with them they are quick to sew you, a form of hate IMO.

my personal belief? I have absolutely no problem with immagrants of any size shape or color. What troubles me is when enough of them congregate in communities with no intent to integrate into the mainstream. And this doesn't bother me too much. But, it does begin to bother me when we need to commit additional resources due to this lack of integration. Such as needing to teach in the immagrants native tongue, government documents needing to be published in other languages, rules needing to be changed to accommodate, and so forth.

For example, there is in our local community, a "no knives to school" policy. But evidently, some "culture" uses ceremonial knives as part of their wardrobe. These are not fake knives, but big crescent shaped things. So now, these little boys can bring knives to school if they have on ceremonial garb. True, it doesn't happen too often, and yes, the knives are somehow sewn in. But thread is not very secure, and it looks like just a bit of tugging would be sufficient to pull the knife free.

I think that there needs to be compromise, and the immigrant needs to main stream to a certain extent.

If you choose to participate in a shitty culture created by a 7th century pedophile and wear a shitstain rag on your head, then yea I think maybe you should be prepared to be refused admission to some places. Solution, dont be a stupid shit and take that ****in thing off your head if you want to live in a modern civilized nation, otherwise go back to F**kistan.

Perturbed by political correctness and hyper liberal bullshit, that's all...It's been a longgg work week, 16 hour type days....I'm so tired of the antics of these people, the people who participate in that religion tacitly support it by not condemning it and allowing these people a safe haven in their neighborhoods. If they decided as a community to ostracize them, they would not thrive in the places they have, it's tacit approval. It's absolutely no different than the millions of Germans tacit approval of Hitler's policies by remaining silent.
