At the gym....................
.................I have a few that I talk to from time to time. More and more I'm being asked what I'm exercising today. Conversation openers. I don't lecture, and usually don't comment. But I've started planting these little ideas in some of their heads. for example, this one bloke, I've mentioned that as your bf% drops, there is a tendency for your E levels to drop too. Another time, i'll just ask a question and walk away, letting them chew on it for awhile.
Today, one of the staff, also a trainer, was talking to me. So I asked him what is BF% was.
12% is the answer.
Huh? you are not 12% mate. maybe 17
I can prove it. we have the scale in the back, I can show you now. conductivity meter.
mate, those things are a piece of crap. in accurate. So I gave him a quick run down all the variable that make those things inaccurate, such as hydration, bone density to body mass ratio, whether or not his gut is full, perspiration, and just a simple truth that not everyone's skin conductivity is the same.
huh?
then I walk away.
keep in mind, 24 hour gym recently had a "Free Body Fat test" for members. And every one got a wrong answer. But 24 hour didn't realize those things are a piece of crap.
So I continued on and told him that most in the gym are between 15 and 20%. I said the bloke next to us is pushing 11% and he was looking pretty good, a huge difference than the trainer in front of me that claimed 12%.
I try not to say too much. But every once in a while, I have to say something. and every once in a while, someone listens.

You should be a trainer.

I try my best not to talk to anyone even though many annoy the fuk out of me asking me shit. I don't mind afterwards but while I am training I have to keep rolling otherwise I get very grumpy and it shows. If they start asking me stuff I normally say you want to train with me I don't mind if you want to jump in with me, that normally stops the conversation.

I was doing the seated one arm horizontal rows the other day and just did a set with 4 45 pound plates and one 35 pound plate per side. That's really pushing it for me, which is my heavy set in the pyramid. so I walk away after the set momentarily and go get a paper towel to wipe the sweat off my brow and my head. I come back and this young thin guy is acting as if he is going to take some plates off. he looks at me and then says oh, would you like to work in, or something like that. So I tell him I was coming back for two more sets, but if he can row those plates as is, the station is his.
I've been meaning to ask one of the trainers a question, and keep forgetting. Do they bring up gym etiquette during their sessions?

I go really early so there is a group of generally older people in there. I talk to them a bit, but usually my headphones are blasting away so I just don't make eye contact. There is another younger guy, early 30's that trains the same time, we talk a bit, this guy is a freak of nature. He claims all natty, but his strength is insane, he does behind the neck presses with 3 plates a side free weight. We pick each others brains a bit on training and technique, he is a good guy. There is one guy that comes in when I am about half way done who will talk your bloody ear off, even motions you to take out your ear phones so he can talk to you. I try and avoid working too close to him.

The only talking I do in a gym is hello's and goodbyes to some of the employees who have helped me with lifts/ given me advice. Nothing more, nothing less.
Occasional nod of acknowledgement here and there to friends. But you know the saying, 'gym's most serious place on earth' so I get my workout in 45 - 75 mins and get the hell out

so there was this young man on the butterfly machine, winging some moderate weight, maybe a hundred pounds, but he has an air restrictor mask on. and I can hear him huffing and puffing, which is impacting the quality of his reps/sets AND taking a long time between sets to recover. I thought I was slow. I felt like taking that mask of his greasy little head so he could breathe better and just finish up

I've seen a lot of these people lately. WTF is with this fad? That shit makes them do shittier lifts, slower recovery AND they look like ass-clowns in the process. Is there some proof that it makes better gains or something? I always thought breathing was good during your lifts.

The not putting your weight backs is in revers here in India. There is, literally, zero people putting their weights back. Not even a dumbbell they just used sitting next to the rack, they just drop it and walk away. It is truly bizarre! If I come in a bit later the gym floor is covered in weights, making it hard to walk. I'll take a picture next time.

Now imagine if someone was on tren and using that mask.
Heavy breathing at its finest.
