We have verified there are UFO's and the presence of Alien Intelligence...........
Suppose there comes a day when the above statement is generally accepted by society at large. We have bona fide proof, and the shock of "we are not alone" has worn off to a certain degree.
How do you think this will change life on the planet?
Let me hear what you have to say first, then I'll add my thoughts.

Suppose in this scenario, they are remaining distant and aloof. Mostly they are just observing and carrying out their business as usual, but this time, we are aware of it...........

That will finally put an end to organized religion, that day can't come soon enough. It is interesting to think how the sheep will respond to the fact of aliens being undoubtedly real, I guess what ever the media is told to tell us is how the vast majority will feel about it.

I dont understand what one has to do with the other?
Yes there are some religious people who are so closed minded and dont even believe or understand their own teaching and think we are the only intelligent life anywhere but there are just as many if not more none religious people who think the same thing.

Would you not rather put your time and effort into helping some one or give a bit of advice on topics than wasting your time with this nonsense

If there were confirmed aliens, that would pretty much contradict the bible to a large degree, no? If there are aliens then the god as we humans were taught to believe in wouldn't hold much ground unless validated by the said aliens. I am not against the belief of a higher power or faith, just not the organised religion we have had forced upon us. I can't say one way or another, but I will no for sure once I'm dead.

I believe they've made contact in some capacity as you're probably aware from my previous responses on other threads.
It will never come to light unless the aliens make a conscious effort to 'expose' themselves without government intervention. There are too many classified documents and testimonials from reputable people (I'm referring to ones here in the U.K) that are simply unexplainable in logical terms, but point to otherwordly interference.
Having said that, should alien life become known to mankind, it'll cause all out pandemonium, hence why governments keep this information under lock and key, so as not to threaten national security.
I would think such a scenario, such as the confirmation of other existence, would have such a profound effect on humans - what, where, why?

Quite strange how humanity has made leaps in every aspect in the last century compared to the previous gazillion years

No, not to me. The bible says we are not to try to know or understand everything about God but unfortunately to many people waste their time and life doing just that.
Who says God only created us? Only an arrogant and narrow minded man. Right there they are putting limitations on what he can and can't do. Foolish.

Why do new members think it is ok to fire off aggressive comments out of the blue to senior members. I am new here as well and find this happens a fair bit. I can understand little spats and disagreements, but some of these guys need to learn some respect. I hope you senior members call me out if I act out in this manor.

I've thought of this hypothetical scenario for quite some time. I agree with the people that think that some contact in varying degrees has already been made by government of various branches of several countries. I'm guessing that this might be one logical incentive for a one world government as a goal. I'd imagine that alien life-forms are organized by philosophical/spiritual similarities. Maybe some are benevolent and place a high value on knowledge and intellectual growth. Maybe others are technologically advanced, but are malicious in nature- they're okay with taking what resources they need by force. These two opposing forces would have to have treaties eventually to avoid conflict, and perhaps annihilation of their species. These benevolent "UN Peacekeeping" type allies would abide by some form of space law- which, to some degree, would require our species to be represented by a single governing body in order to fully meet their membership requirements.
As far as we go, I think a lot of turmoil would happen. There are a lot of orthodox, fundamentalists (of all religions) that would suffer a catastrophic crisis if alien life presented itself. Think about how many people reject the scientifically supported stance on climate change because it doesn't conform with their political ideals and preferred media narrative. At least 95% of climate scientists agree with this, but it's still treated as an optional belief. Can you imagine if all of those people also couldn't grasp the presence of extraterrestrial life?
I also agree that many religious people would be fine in this case. They're flexible enough that they'll allow for new developments in their beliefs. I think the scriptural literalists (the ones who believe that the Earth is only 6,000 years old and Satan is a red guy with horns and a pointy tail that runs around whispering bad things into peoples' ears) are the ones who will declare rapture.
Some of us, like myself (and probably TIMESROMAN, judging by his previous threads on this subject) will be fascinated and probably wonder why it took so long to just come out and admit it.

If verification of life other than ours was proven, unless there was interaction I'm not sure anything would change on earth. Sure, we're now aware of them, but awareness doesn't normally equal change. Think of all the things we're aware of on earth, the massively horrible things - most people still live their lives the same. That's not said to be depressing, it's simply the reality of how people live. But sure, if there's interaction with another life form then things would change. But from there it would all depend on the type of interaction.

My views in regards to religion may have been too vague, I was more referring to the ones j3374 described, the literalists and fundamentalists. I think I generalized my comment too much by only thinking of the extremists and not regular believers.

one has to pause and consider that although King James probably has it wrong, this does not detract from the possibility that there is a supreme being. The prime mover. The big cheese. The high almighty.
The bottom line. it's the dude with the unlimited credit card and no minimum monthly payments.
.......In a strip club.
.......With a girlfriend/wife that is more interested in the stripper than you.
Somehow, this degenerated into one of my male fantasies?

I don't discount that there is a supreme being, it is just how the "organized" part of the religion has detracted from what it was really about. I believe in something, but like I said, there is only one way to know for sure, and that is to die.

After bouncing in a strip club and dating a stripper, I don't have any desire to go to them anymore. Stripper drama makes me dumber just thinking about it. But on the other hand, the unlimited credit card and open minded wife, well I think I could make an exception.
