Well, if I could buy what I want I would love it. I am getting due for a new RAM, my 07 is getting tired. I would love to roll up to the Dodge dealer and buy a Hellcat Charger and a new RAM and just leave my 06 Charger and 07 Ram with them.

I'm never a car shopper - Or at least try not to be one. . . . Last time I went "shopping" for a car, the motor was filled with gear oil - which I did notice, then it blew up < seriously for real
I just but whatever cars I get my hands on cheap enough then sell them off from the crappiest on. Usually I keep like 4-5 at a time
Just because shopping for a car is a straight nightmare - But, when you don't need one - you stumble upon deals

I have firends that are sales people that are good honest people and have helped me man time buy cars for fair market value with no smoke and mirrors....however they no longer work at the dealership and sell cars i want to buy, so now i got a pleasure of meeting bunch of schmoes last time my wife totaled our car, and now i have to do the same...you are right not all are shady but a fair percentage is...
As a matter of fact i always wanted to be a car sales man, and i know i am honest so that says it all...

Hmmm i don't see whats wrong with buying a car. You go you pick what you want. They either have it stock or you wait for it to be delivered from the factory. You pay then you drive off.
I love my 2012 GT falcon. I want a new maloo but i font have the money bow that I'm retired.

I typically will buy in the 4th quarter and get the current year model as opposed to the new one. I've feel like you have more leverage since they just want to rid the lot of the current year models.

There are a lot of tools now days online to help you know what to pay. As far as mechanically you either need to know your stuff or have someone you can take it to and have them do a once over on it. Throw it up on a rack check it out underneath to see if it's been abused or in a crash.

keys from insider
By far best time to buy a car is last day of month or even year.
As stated above pick out what you want model options color ect.. And negotiate a price in writing. Go pick up phone call nearest few dealer and see what them come back at.
Now there really is no money to be made by a dealer from a new car it's made in the financial department from interest, extra warranties, paint or interior protection, alarms or LoJack, window etching, add ons and list of gimmick stuff goes on.
Remember everything is negotiable including interest rates and that's were I see a lot of people paying $35000 for a $20000 car.
Also if you catch it right you can get great rebates on last years models when the new models come and the manufacturors need to unload older inventory.Last edited by derekkpapa1; 01-07-2015 at 09:46 PM.

Thanks all for your input, I appreciate all of you guys trying to help me lessen the pain of this experience...i am aware of all the available help you can get on line making an educated decision, The compounding problem here is that it is an insurance claim, since i paid cash for the smashed vehicle i do not want to go buy another vehicle until insurance settles the claim and I have cash in my hand, which means my car rental will be done i will be down to one vehicle and have to laced or finalize a deal rather quickly...for now i have a Toyota Camry, not quite the BMW experience...LOL...not that i care as at least i have a car to travel around in...

I have always bought my trucks when they're 1-2 years old. In my opinion, brand new vehicles are overpriced and, once thy're a year old, you can pick them up for about 2/3 the original price, sometimes less. They usually only have, maybe, 20,000 miles or so on them (depending where you live), which is basically still new IMO, which means you shouldn't have any mechanical problems. Agree that you should still check the frame though, just in case it's been in a wreck.
Derrek, how do you feel about this approach^^^? And also, how many miles should you allow yourself to put on before getting rid of it to the the most money out of it? I usually try to get rid of them before they hit 60,000 miles.

Okay good approach but things people don't realize that if you buy a used truck say 20k with 6% interest (always interest on used-good credit will save a point or 2) it will cost you around 25-26k or more depands length of loan versus 30k no interest loan. There is a lot that plays into it tax right offs ect if you paying cash. And also I see people who buy a new car and has a bunch of issues and trade it early so u could buy someone else's issues and watch out for former rental cars.
The key to trading a car in is under a 100k within 6 years - reasoning because banks are more willing to finance that vehicle thus easier for dealer to sell and they will give you more money for the car.
Hope helps if need more let me know

I loved it...it drove like BMW does, it was just big enough for our family, the wife liked it as it was her truck...but ours had the M Sport package with 19" rims apparently not so go in Canadian winters...LOL...the fuel consumption was pretty good as well, it was hell of a fun to drive for a SUV...

I'm in sales & a car guy. So I actually enjoy walking in & screwing with car salesmen. A good majority of them know very little, yet it seems they always excel @ being complete douche bags...

I guess I should've clarified. I paid cash for my last truck. Car loans are bad debt, and I would never take out a loan on something that I wan't making a return on. Yes, I realize that not everyone has the ability to do this, but I would much rather buy a cheap car with cash than take out a loan on an expensive one (at least what I would consider expensive).
