    Beers, shots and drinks

Haven't had a drop since jan 2. Pretty good considering drank a lil every night up till that point for a few years. Hope to stay with it for 60 days then from there nothing in the house but will socially drink. How's everyone doing this new year?

I haven't had a drink since the 4th and I was a 10-15 beer a day, everyday. I am what you would call a functioning drunk I guess, it doesn't interfere with life or work, but it is killer on the physique. I don't plan on going back to that kind of drinking, but for some reason it just seems to happen over time.

Damn. I would be in an alcohol comma! And you don't need it neither.

I was right there with you man. Funny certain people disappear when we stop drinking. Lol... Stay away from the temptation. The excess fat falls off in no time. Kept it going man.

Thanks! I'm sure that paleo is no joke. That takes some dedication. Good luck with it.

Got lit last night, smoked a pack of smokes & went to sleep at 7am

Well, to me this is still sobriety. Haven't touched dope in months & this is the first time I actually got hammered in quite a while.

It's weird, I didn't even like it - I am to the point of complete burn out. I have done too much for too long - It's just not fun anymore.

But, my woman wanted to go out since we haven't in months then some.

What's kinda funny is that I still know my limits very well now. I say lit, but in reality I would say an equivalent to about 5-6 shots. Slept for 6 hours and felt like a million bucks. Fvck all this drinking to the point of sickness- my woman on the other hand drank about 2x of myself. Straight got sick and was just down all day. I went to the gym and had excellent workout.

Ive got a Corona that has been in my refrigerator since 2003, hows that? lol
Ive never required a taste for beer. I have gone years without having one.

I do like to have a mixed drink now and again. Usually almost once a week, sometimes 2 or 3x a week but usually only 1 and then I also go weeks or more without any. I dont remember the last time I actually got drunk, many years ago.

I have a close friend who was worried he was starting to have a problem because he also had at least one drink every night for a year or more so he stopped for several weeks and didnt seeem to have any problem so now he is back to a few times a week but not every night and also he never drinks in excess, doesnt get drunk or do anything stupid.

Congratulations on your time dry and sober. It's always a good think if you realize you have or might have a problem.

Aside from getting shit-talked in to a game of beer pong around a year and a half ago, at a party, I haven't had a drop of alcohol since like '09 or so.

I personally never really thought I had a problem. I just don't like the taste of alcohol and I don't like the feeling it gives me. My problem was that I was hanging out with people who did have drinking problems and thus I got suckered in to drinking with them.

In your dry time, I would suggest exploring your other interests.

Beer pong, that's what happens when you party with high school or college kids.

Yeah it's funny how little you drink when you are busy doing other things besides sitting in a bar or watching TV.

I didn't have a problem, I am actually pretty good at it, lol. I do enjoy beer and the beer buzz, but I don't like the cloudy feeling the next day, and the impact on my body. Waking up after a hard night of bourbon is such a bad feeling, feels great that night, but the next day is horrible. I am only off the beer due to my cycle, I will still have a drink here and there once done, but I really want to stop the daily drunk thing.

    congrats johnz4!

back in the day, i was a binge drinker - verging on a functional drunk like zempey. the drinking was starting to affect my family and i found it easier to just stop than try to manage. been sober 4.5 years and everything's great. occasionally miss a beer or wine with dinner, but not the vodka+red bull (my kryptonite).

the improvement of lean body mass was a welcome benefit!

All of a sudden, I want to play a round of beer pong. But yeah, it was some college kids that got me to play it with them. Don't ask what a nearly middle-aged man is doing at a college party... You know
