    The cops are here...

At 12:00 today I was prepping my hand guns and a few long guns for the range today. when one of those off brand gas supply people with the clip board and yellow hard hats came by with the whole pitch " are you happy with your current supplier BS " I told them I was all set and thanks for stopping and I went about my business the guy flips out when he sees the guns and ammo and tells me his unwanted opinion on guns in the public hands. I told him to beat it.
He apparently entry called the police and said I was stock piling weapons or some craziness .
Cops come ask to come in I say no.
    They say we insist
I say your acting out side the scope of your duties come back with a warrant and we will talk.
When they left scratching there heads not having a clue what to do I went back to loading my gun cases and put my side arm on my hip.
Went in to grab my lunch and water bottles when they returned with friends. I payed them no attention and headed to the truck . The stopped me.
I said nothing and handed them my photo ID and my pistol permit clearly stating open Cary conceal Cary
They read me a bunch of bullshit that was all bluff.
The young one was jumpy as hell and asked to see my side arm I said no it went a tad south from there. He has a three point security holster and removes the first two safety's with gusto.
I told the LT standing by the car to put a leash on his boy. And pointed to my porch and my garage two cameras recording the whole thing. I stated simple and clear. I am legal I have done nothing wrong you are here for no reason that has been stated as of yet . I am being hassled and your boy is trying to intimidated me by readying his weapon to fire. If you don't state your reason for being here I have someplace to be.
The LT asked to speak briefly in private I said sure and stepped inside my house and held the door for him.
He asked to check my pistol against my permit . I let him after letting him know it was loaded. He then addressed the concerns that brought them to my place in the first place all was dismissed we stepped back out side. I let him know he should educate his newbies before they get in trouble.
Just a moment out of my day I wanted to share

Well the gas man obviously won't have you as a client. I would negatively review his company many times over. And call his boss.

Fvkn yards. The gas guy and the cops. You should have asked for a supervisor or state patrol officer, they seem to be better than patrol cops.

I LoL when they say someone on tv was stockpiling guns or ammo because they had 500 or 1000 rounds and more than one clip.

Where is lunk1 when you need him?

Thank you for asserting your Constitutional Rights and not letting the police harass you into giving into their will. If more people did this we'd have less problems.

If they saw my rec room they would shite themselves. I don't call it stock piling it all gets used . And I keep plenty on hand just in case. I reload 45 and 357 and they just drop into a wooden barrel on the other side of the assembly .
When some one leaves brass I'm all over it.

Exactly. Most dont understand that police will lie to your face to get what they want. Most people have no idea what it means when they read you your rights. Simply, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
In other words keep your mouth shut and dont say anything or it will be used against you. ..

100% agree never to let them in without a search warrant.

I have been through some BS in the past when I lived next to an anti gun anti hunting fella. He and his wife would give me a hard time. Me and friends of Mine were comparing full size targets silhouettes after a day at the range. We had them spread out on the hood of one of the trucks . He called us war mongers . We laughed so hard at his ignorance .

This is not a liberal issue, and as long as people keep it in the liberal and conservative side of the argument it will continue.
And yes, I fully realize I'm basically speaking to a deaf audience (not you specifically Cajun or anyone particular here, I'm speaking in general).

    The basic facts:

    Progressives want your guns
Progressives want to control all aspects of your life
Progressives want to spy on you
Progressives want your money and want to decide what you deserve to keep
Progressives use Law Enforcement and allow them to act in away like the above
Progressives want a police state (to a degree, a bit of a unique one compared to past history but still a police state)
Progressives exist heavily on both the democrat and republican side. Progressives often call themselves liberal or conservative.

Truth - Liberal Progressives are insane and care nothing about you.
Truth - Conservative progressives drape themselves in the word "conservative" but also care nothing about you.
Truth - Progressives have highjacked the words Liberal & Conservative.

And on a side note. My wife is home and looked at the recording. She thinks I should go down to the cop shop and offer a copy to the chief.
And I believe that I will be doing that in the morning.

Your wife is absolutely correct. I wouldn't be surprised if the chief of police didn't care to be honest but good on you for going through with it.

I contacted the cop shop and spoke with the acting captain told him who I was. He said he heard the story already and that there was nothing more to speak of. I asked his version of the story. And smiled deep inside when his version has me as an aggressive male passing in a nervous fashion.
I kept cool as I told him the only tweaked on the seen were his officers. And I have already pulled my tapes made two copies.
I was met by a long silence.
We meet in the morning at ten. And he has asked that I come with out my side arm.
I respectfully told him that I will have my side arm and I will check it at the designated post with the station .

I'm not a legal expert so take this with a grain of salt:

So long as you're not interfering with the police officer's duties you're fine. Also Many states only require permission from one party, in this case you.

    Special considerations when videotaping:

With regards to videotaping, there is an important legal distinction between a visual photographic record (fully protected) and the audio portion of a videotape, which some states have tried to regulate under state wiretapping laws.

Such laws are generally intended to accomplish the important privacy-protecting goal of prohibiting audio "bugging" of private conversations. However, in nearly all cases audio recording the police is legal.
In states that allow recording with the consent of just one party to the conversation, you can tape your own interactions with officers without violating wiretap statutes (since you are one of the parties).
In situations where you are an observer but not a part of the conversation, or in states where all parties to a conversation must consent to taping, the legality of taping will depend on whether the state's prohibition on taping applies only when there is a reasonable expectation of privacy. But no state court has held that police officers performing their job in public have a reasonable expectation.
The ACLU believes that laws that ban the taping of public officials' public statements without their consent violate the First Amendment. A summary of state wiretapping laws can be found here.

I gave it a skim thank you.
I'll just inform him that I will be recording the meeting.
I just want to be heard with out this guy getting twisted. I'm still a little bent about it. I'd really like to snap that little rookie **** off the ground and let him know how men handle things.
But I think his partner would tazer my ass.

I think you handled yourself well noon. The twerp unlocking his holster needed a slap upside his head, but that wouldn't have ended well! Keep in mind the cops didn't want to come to your house. They had to. In this day and age any type of complaint regarding weapons will get a response. Imagine if they didn't and somebody then went on a killing spree. The issue is training them to recognize the difference between normal (you) and some anti-social psychopath. And I'd be real careful with the wiretap laws. Ask for a copy of their report as well. I'd be very interested in what they had to say if I were you.

Well done! damn nice read in the morning before hitting the gym. I would have a hard time keeping my cool as you did. Worked at some high-security locations before
and f*ck did we have issues with some authority, weather special forces, police or other securitys. Issue is that in my country we have all this loop-holes.
-"yes you have your right BUT because you are within a 2 meter range of the entrence we may proceed with bla bla bla". Even worse when a famous jackass want to entry with
    hes bodyguards. Or damn diplomats....
But I ended up on a lot of meetings bcus I couldn't stand some people, lost every fight, their word are much heavier and it's hard dragging out a camera in the middle of conversation
which is illegal in my country in these cases, another loop-hole....

Keep us updated, smiling as i read more

Because the police are part of the political arm, a massive part. As a society we tend to want to believe this isn't the case and coin little feel good phrases like "they're simply doing their job" but the are the enforcers of the law and when enforcement reaches beyond the intended scope of power, that's a problem, a political one.

I went to my app this morning. We reviewed the recording together. He quickly said he was sorry that he was miss informed from the begining
He said that his men were simply staying at the ready.
I said your man was preparing to draw his service weapon on a lawafull citizen who has never even had a traffic ticket. He then stated that my appearance had given his men reason to be cautious and nervous.
I told him that his men were improperly trained. And were acting like tweakers.
    Itching to draw his weapon.
I told him I wanted an appoligy asap or I was driving two blocks to the news paper and dropping it in there laps. And stood to leave. He asked that I wait. So I said sure.
He left and came back with a suited up fella. (Big sumbitch) and I was told the department is sorry for any trouble the officers may have caused. And the young officer will be taking a risk anaylisis course starting Feb 10. And I am welcome to check back with his office in a month to follow up.he gave me his card wished me a good day and said good by.
That my friends is a ****ing win. .!

On the whole, I'm not a fan of how most police officers handle themselves in my experiences but the chief actually did good in this case. He didn't attempt to put up the blue wall of silence or cover up for his men. Sounds like the resolution was handled well.

It sounds like the chief understood you were profiled based on your appearance and that is a big no-no in policing, especially these days.

Nice to see the chief being proactive in making changes instead of a big lawsuit and negative media coverage that forces change.

Ya it was way more than I had expected. And I will absolutely be checking in .
I also did a little checking on the big fella in the suit. It seems He is the problem solver for the department. And doesn't take nonsense from any one.
