I dunno, which vein is called what. But, I have a giant vein right on the inside of my elbow. That's where I always get all drawings done. Left or right
-
That sounds like the Cephalic vein(it branches off at elbow) and will continue down arm then split again clockwise over your forearm into your hand(left side of right arm I'm talking)...
My problem is from my surgeried/coma at the elbow(branch) is almost collapsed... But same vein on each arm is fine just a tad(1/2" at most on R arm - and the left is in better shape)... I can't upload pics or I'd post some of my veins...
Thx for your feedback, I was waiting for you to come in on this lolLast edited by NACH3; 04-15-2015 at 08:29 AM.

Yeah, this whole working thing gets in the way
Post a pic if you can
Every time I need blood drawn, the nurses love me. I'm like a vein road map.
-
Funny b/c all of the phlebotomists have said the same thing regarding good veins(this is what keeps throwing me off)... I will say until my supplies come in I made an appt w/my GP for a script for a therapeutic draw(so they don't give me a problem) met all criteria etc then they even referred to me as a IV drug user(I almost lost it due to my past history - but never that) Fvk no!
I have taken all the pics but I can't upload any atm... Still having probs... And it wont show the email address on some peoples profile(understandable) but that/& or messaging will work lol

where is the power stickie on this thing?
how much blood gets let? no more than 700ml a week?
how often can one let themselves? whatever i feel like as long as it's no more than 700ml per week?
I like the water bottle as a container, but i hate buying little bottles of water. can i use a measuring cup to see how much blood i need to put into an empty plastic gallon of water thing. the reason i say it like that is because first i'll measure the amount i need to empty with water first. that way i can mark it on the empty gallon with a permanent marker. all the material needed are easy to get and find
so what's the best size tubing? 4mm or 5/32?
This solution seems quick and cheap. easy too if you can tackle it.

sorry for the late response, been too damn busy at work! this shit is becoming more and more popular, unbelievable!
I copied this from another thread I responded to, hope it helps.
you will need,
A. 5/32" OD polyurethane tubing, preferably clear.
B. 18 gauge x 1.5" needle
C. BP cuff
D. 16 oz clear water bottle
E. first aid tape (I use electric tape)
F. gauze wrap
1. cut polyurethane tubing to about 4 feet long.
2. insert one end of tubing into the needle luer lock opening (should press fit), then wrap with tape to insure tubing stays in.
3. poke two small holes in the water bottle cap, make sure they are smaller than the tubing so the tube press fits in.
4. press the other end of the tube into one of the holes and secure with tape if needed, and leave the other hole open.
5. put the cuff on but do not pump.
6. find the vein and clean the are with alcohol few times.
7. get a large cotton ball ready for after pulling the needle out.
8. pump the cuff until you can feel the vein then with a quick move stick the needle in at a very shallow angle. remember the vein is only skin deep, so make sure you go in with very shallow angle. you should see blood shoot though the tubing and into the bottle. if blood slows down simply squeeze your fist every few seconds, if still slow you can increase the cuff pressure as needed.
IMPORTANT!
when pulling out the needle make sure the cuff is completely deflated, otherwise you'll bleed allover the place
9. when finished deflate the cuff completely and pull the needle out, then immediately place a large cotton ball on the area and press firmly, rise your hand for about a minute or so then check and see if the bleeding stopped. add a new cotton ball then wrap with gauze for about 3 hours or so. this part is much easier if someone else does it for you.
Good luck!

Thx Bass,
Answered all my ?'s regarding material(tubbing OD/thought it wouldve been ID)... Getting supplies next wk and will surely let you know!!
So you only do the two holes which seems easier... Rather than Applying negative pressure into one?! It seems like the flow would be fine w/the one other hole for releasing pressure....
Thank you for responding, much appreciated!!

What if I still use my Cephalic vein just not at the elbow(just down - 1/2" maybe - if you need to see the veins they're in this thread...
Thx again

Dude, either of those huge veins on either side would be fine. The bloodbanks just won't touch you because they think you're a junky to have collapsed AC's.
-
Thx for your reply!
And yes even after meeting all criteria, the head nurse came over and actually referred to me as one(looking up and down my arms - very unprofessional to say the least... either way I did report it... Just made me feel like a piece o shit and just walked out.... Pretty shitty feeling
oh well this will save me a prescription for a therapeutic draw plus something I figured I'd need to do eventually...Last edited by NACH3; 04-18-2015 at 06:29 PM.

not sure what you referring to when you say "blowing" there is NO blowing, if you're talking about adding another tube on the cap to create vacuum then you should create vacuum by sucking air to create negative pressure. I did this last time and I was done in less than 5 minutes.
