    Meal prepping

Right now i make my food one meal at the time when i need to eat, but its a pain in the ass. Due to a different work schedule i need to start cutting down the time i use on making food and maybe make meals for 1 or 2 weeks at the time. How do you guys meal prep? Any tips to make it more efficient?

Do all your cooking on one day for the week, put it in small containers, and eat as you go.

Cook in bulk is definitely the way to go. I normally grill or bake 10 to 12 lbs a chicken every weekend for the week along with all my carb sources (rice sweet potato) in bulk also. I have enough time in the morning to get all my meals ready for the day, so I don't have to pack them into a bunch of contains for the whole week but some don't have the time to do it in the mornings.

How do you weight your food easily when you cook it in bulk? Like sweet potatoes, which comes in all sizez? Or frozen chicken etc?

Like for myself I don't weight it till the morning when I put it into containers and head out for work. I just kinda know eye balling how much will get me through the week when making it all. Chicken Is easy tho it always has the weight on the package where I buy it so I kinda now how much I'm cooking up. But for sweet potatoes I'll just cut up like 6 to 8 big ones and throw them in the oven. Then weight everything out in the am. But if your someone who doesn't have time to pack your food in the morning it's a little tougher to do.

Fridge. Container must be air tight to ensure freshness for 5/6 days.

Only exception is salads. I make those daily. Very easy. I buy the spring mix or kale and cabbage blends and throw into a plastic container on the way out the door.

For me it's either food prep or gyming after work. No time for both

Yeah i know, but if i have 15 pieces of chicken, different sizes, how to i get the right amount easily? I would have to spend 30 min just cutting them. And with rice, do i have to spend an eternity portioning it equally in 30 tupperware boxes?

Edit; Are there any methods to make the process faster and more efficient?

it goes in the fridge. Cooked protein has a shelf life of seven days stored properly

Well it probably takes me less since I eat so little. Goes much quicker when I grill.

I am not prepping gourmet meals. Just basics. Mostly grilled chic and grilled fish and grilled veggies. Microwave a few sweet potatoes or cook some rice and boil some eggs and your done!

I also prep all the food for the hubby and I on the weekend. I cook 24-28 chicken breast, boil 24 eggs, cook 4 cups of brown rice and sometime sweet potato. I also portion it all like an assembly line. Weigh all the chicken and put in containers at the same time. Then use a measuring cut to portion the rice. I also peel all the eggs the day I cook them and drop them in.

I don't peel my eggs, as I use them sporadically depending on the day, and what I need. But everything is cooked, weighed, portioned and put in the fridge on Sundays; takes me about 3 hours. It's not hard once you get a system, know what you'll be eating each day, and do it a few times.

I will say the only meal I cook is breakfast, as I am NOT a fan of reheated scrambled eggs. I'll cook those, stuff a cup of spinach in my mouth, split an avocado and eat it while the eggs are cooking, down it with my shake, and eat the eggs on the way to work. Other than that, I'm nuking chicken, fish, green beans, broccoli, bison, etc.

You are completely over thinking how to divide the food. If the total food you bought is for one week then that is enough. Making sure it weighs equally on every single day is fairly irrelevant. If you ate everything at the end of the week and not more you are good to go.

I just make my food for the day (sans supper) when I wake up in the morning. Lately, that just consists of cutting up some chicken and potatoes and throwing them in a crock-pot with some broth in it. I'll bring left overs from yesterday to tide me until lunch (i go home for lunch usually now) and by then it's ready.

    Depends on what I cook.

Most of it will stay good for about a week. If I cook a big gumbo or chili, I may freeze some of it
