Thread: I hate ampules!!!!!

    I hate ampules!!!!!

    Just a quick rant that whenever I use Ampules I always destroy the stupid things and lose its contents. This morning when trying to snap one open I completely crushed the stupid thing in my hand and cut my hand open. At the same time I knocked one off the counter and it shattered on the floor. This is NOT the first time this has happened and I think it happens every single time I use amps. haha

    Anyways, just wanted to vent.

    I have never had an issue with them. I snap the top off with my thumb. You could get an amp opener

    I did that once... Now I always score the lid on one side or all the way around with either a glass cutter or a finger nail file.

    haha I've done this a few times, we dont know our own strength!

    Now it's pretty easy, less is more. don't squeeze them so tight.

    I always hold them with a piece of gauze and keep your thumbs really close together

    Set the amp down on a flat surface holding with my left hand and just lightly twist my right hand keeping my thumbs close together and they snap clean.

    It always seemed like when I tensed/tried to use a lot of force I'd crush the little suckers too!

    Been a while since I used an amp. But when I did, I used the little alcohol packet after I tear one open, and slip it over the head (ha) and snap it off.

    I wrap it in a face cloth after I score it just to be on the safe side because I have had an amp shatter in my hands before......and yes, it was probably from handling it too roughly.

    I hate ampoules, and all the pharma test in Europe I have seen is sold in them. I have broken a few, but even if I get a clean break I think of the tiny bits of glass that I am injecting into my leg, so I try to filter the contents. I have a box of filter needles, and good lord, the time I have wasted slooooowly filtering that stuff and then seriously, my hand feels like it is going to fall off. I've finally recruited my hubby to deal with it all, but what I wouldn't give for a nice, multi-dose vial....

    How about getting your hubby to xfer 10 amps into an empty sterile multi use vial

    yeah ...I know how u feel....happened to me once or twice....but now I realized patience is the key to safely cutoff amps neck..just relax and don't rush hahahah!!! lol
