ACL Tear... and hospital food
So it finally happened. My ACL tore after trying to chase down block someone in basketball and I landed awkwardly.
Got surgery later today and the vain side of me is dying right now. The pain in my knee isn't bothering me.. the fact I probably won't play basketball again (or at least for a while) isn't bothering me. But the fact I won't be eating decent food is killing me. Should I ask some relatives to bring me food in a Tupperware or is that against most hospitals rules due to some sort of hygienic rule? Most likely going to be stuck here for a couple weeks before they give me crutches or something
I was 2 weeks from finishing my cut as well.. was looking forward to finishing it off then begin to eat at a surplus and start some growth off for a solid 30 weeks.
Pretty sure this post made no sense, heads all over the place at the moment and I'm just venting.
Someone hug me... (estrogen is in control don't fear)

Sorry that happened to you, no fun.
For this type of injury, you should be fine to eat whatever food you want, but check with your doc as there may be pre and post op restrictions.
Take care of it and heal up quick.

Way back in middle school I tore my meniscus and I was in and out that same day. I think at most you could be there a day. Last year when I got in my motorcycle accident I was in the hospital for a couple months and the food actually wasn't that bad. I'm sure it's not ideal diet food though. As far as bringing in food for you. That shouldn't be a problem. As long as the food doesn't mess with any medication that you may be on. My GF would bring food for me too. I'd ask first to make sure though. Good luck with the surgery and hope for a speedy recovery!

Of course they don't know what u eat off the menu. Ppl bring in food all the time. The only time there's a potential issue is if you have a medical condition that requires a restricted diet.
Hope your surgery went well. Heal quickly!!!!

I used to handle ACL an PCL tears for a living. My system was letting patients walk the same day they had surgery.
What exactly did they do? Are you familiar with the system your do used?

Just woke up from surgery. Feeling groggy and having never experienced surgery before didn't expect this random surge of pain a bit after I woke up. Doc just explained whats going to happen for me for the remainder of my stay in the ward which shouldn't be more than a few days at the very most. I'm on private care so they're looking after me very well. Not sure what I was thinking when I asked if I could bring my own food in but I honestly have no appetite whatsoever even though it's been about 14 hours since my last meal. Sister should be coming down in a bit (yes at 5am in the morning lol) with canned tuna and there's a microwave in the reception so I asked her to make me some rice/chicken for a couple meals.
Doc recommends I rest until I at least feel comfortable (and once these pain killers settle in properly) and then he'll ask the nurses to provide crutches so I can try and walk around. Should be seeing someone to teach me on how to do physio so I can do that at home when I leave and I've got weekly check ups scheduled. A bit annoying having my leg raised all the time, but otherwise no real complaints in terms of treatment.
The mental aspect of having lost explosiveness/strength and not being able to train legs with full intensity for upto 6 months is a bit tough to deal with at the moment.
Good thing I took everyone's advice and didn't cycle or else now would be a bit problematic me thinks.
Cheers for the support everyone. Love ya (no homo. Srs to GGR)

Time to take it easy for a while. Dont push it, you dont want to re injure it. Find a good PT, they are not all created equally. Find someone who had experience with athletes.
Best of luck to you and quick recovery. Now is the time to remember all the advice you have given others in regards to injuries and practice what you preach. Yeah that's always the hardest part realizing you are not the exception to the rule.
Honestly, I would not be to concerned about meals while you are there. I'm not sure what is on the menu but there has to be some decent choices and it's probably better than what 90% of people eat. It wont kill you to eat normal for a few days or more.

Where do u live? No insurance company in the united states would ever approve anything other than a same day surgery for an ACL tear.

Anyone has any experience with TB500? I'm interested in seeing if it can aid my recovery over the coming months.

I did do a cycle of this via Times Romans log due to a knee injury that was not getting better after 2 years.
I do feel like I'm better than before running TB500, but I'm still not 100%
I'm personally undecided but from what I read I think it's worth a go.
