    Windows 10

I have the option to upgrade from 7 Pro and was wondering if it is worth it. What are some of the opinions of it out there?

there are some things to think about. Win 10 forces you to do updates and monitors what you do. I am running it on one machine and my other machines dual boot windows 7 and Linux. Linux is my primary os now a days

I went back to 8 after 6 hours of playing with 10. Try it, you can always revert back. I did not like it one bit. It's a resource HOG.

I've got two laptops. The one stateside that my wife is using runs Windows 7 and Ubuntu (she prefers Windows, I don't) and my laptop over here is Windows 8 and Ubuntu. Honestly, the only reason I even keep Windows is I have some software that I don't feel like fighting with to get working with Linux so I just pop over to Windows... That said I haven't touched the windows side of the computer in months.

I am running linux mint right now but i like Ubuntu, Fedora and Suse as well. Ubuntu and Mint are pretty similar since they are both Debian based

I've had some friends trying to get me to cross over to Mint for a while now. From what I've seen Mint looks a bit more "Windows-ish" in appearance and Ubuntu looks more "Mac-ish".
Beyond that I haven't looked much more into it.

Linux is open source brother you can make it look however you want. I am running the mate desktop but if you like the look of the classic Ubuntu then all you have to do is install gnome classic shell

I've been dual booting chrome os and linux xfce for the last two years. Linus is great, but unless you understand CLI it's not user friendly.

IMO linux gives you a cute mascot (Tux below) and enough rope to hang yourself with lol.

once you understand apt-get or whatever package manager have along with adding the correct repositorys it's really pretty simple but I have been using linux now for more then 10 years so it seems pretty native to me

    Linux: free
    Every app/program for linux: free

I currently have Mint in a Virtual Box (on a PC), but I prefer Ubuntu.

It's not as easy as Windows or Mac (you'll eventually need to know some command-line shit) but, as Bio-Active stated, practice makes perfect. If you can learn cycling AAS, you can learn any flavor of Linux.

Linux is also good against malware and spyware(pc viruses etc),and it's very hard to hack linux!
By the way, most of the hackers use Linux operating system to hack others!

yeah that's true and Linux isn't as vulnerable because executable files to not execute in Linux. To install a virus you would have to compile configure make and install it. Using the repos is the safest way to install software as its free and clean

Eh, there are some viruses that affect linux out there. It's easy to click on a spoofed address and download a piece of software with a root kit attached in it.

windows 10 runs fine. I don't like the privacy part of it and I feel strongly that those settings should be turned of by default. Unfortunately that's not going to happen. So I run windows on my one machine that I game on and everything else is done with a different os.

Well, which ones specifically should I be concerned with. For example, if I was ordering gear online, is there anything on the new windows I should be worried about?

Microsoft do not give 2 shits about your AAS usage, trust me. LOL. They do however want to use your "unused" bandwidth and that you can turn off unless you are running Win 10 Pro in which case it already is off.

I find the fact that people complain about the privacy absurd since there is a fix for every single privacy complaint I've encountered. The first thing I did was Google the list of issues, figure out which ones I wasn't okay with, and fixed it. Way ahead of you there, apparently I'm the only one though. The privacy terms and conditions aren't even that bad compared to most I've seen from companies anyway.
