LA fitness
Currently out of town for a few days for work and I wasnt about to let it mess up my training. There is an LA fitness very close to my hotel and I figured I would give it a try. Its $15 for a day pass which sucks but whatever, they are a business and have to make money. But they have so much to offer.. great locker rooms, sauna, pool, hot tub. Their equipment is awesome and all top of the line. They have plenty of free weights and at least two or three of everything so your never waiting. They have everything I would want in a gym. It seems like there is nothing but crappy overpriced gyms around where I live. Why cant I ever have anything nice?!?!

Haha, I worked out at a la fitness for years and then moved. Now I'm at a X SPORT that's nothe bad at all. Just doesn't have the extras like a basketball court, sauna, pool like the last fitness

They can be assholes if they want. If you arent a local resident - no pass at that club. Put you through a mandatory tour and sales pitch. Sometimes its just worth the $15 (which btw if you paid cash prob went into the pocket of the front desk girl, manager, or salesman that helped you).
I know quite a bit about LA Fitness, I managed Gyms for them for several years. They have nice gyms at a nice price but they really are scumbags behind the scenes.

I read online that they had a free 3 day pass and I thought perfect, I need to do 3 days of training while im up here. I told the guy at the front counter and he sent me over to some douche at a desk, he asked me if I was interested in becoming a member and I stupidly said "honestly, probably not, im not from the area". He then told me I couldnt use the 3 day trail and would have to purchase a day pass. So whatever, I purchased the day pass and just did two days worth of training at once (back and legs) The pass is good for 24 hours so I will go back there tomorrow and hit shoulders/traps and then just take Thursday off. Ill be home Friday so ill be able to train at my regular crappy gym lol.

It's why I am firm believer in lying to make my own life easier.
Can I have a three day pass - sure, you thinking of joining - sure am, oh, you have a out of state ID. I sure do, I have just been transferred here for my job & will have a instate ID shortly.
Just like that - paid for my own dinner
Shit bags - 15 Bucks for a day

I'm too honest... Sad to say but that has always been one of my downfalls.

Lol well they let me back in today so I feel I got my moneys worth out of my day pass. I just had to cram three training sessions into two but I feel I did a pretty good job of that. Plus it's better than not working out at all. Currently doing some walking on the treadmill in an attempt to offset all this eating out I've been having to do. There is a sign in the locker room about the dangers of steroid use lol thought that was funny.

Lmao it was pretty funny... wish I took a picture of it. But yeah, I saw more guys there who looked to be avid steroid users than I ever have in my life.

I recently trained with a buddy out of town at la fitness and I have to admit it was nice, clean and I wish I had one were I live

Same here... I got a great workout there. It's everything I could want in a gym and more. I feel like if I could train at a gym like that I could really make some great progress. All the gyms near me charge just as much, have far less to offer and have a terrible atmosphere.

I guess I've never been to a real gym Haz. This place was unlike anything I've ever seen before lol. The gym I am currently going to doesn't even have a preacher curl, or an ez curl bar!! Dumbbells dont go past 85lbs and they don't have a seated calf machine... I had to go out and buy one for my house. I just wanted to freak out on the owner and ask them wtf they are doing... They just bought some sophisticated ab station and they don't even have a preacher curl?!?!? It really angers me to give them money every month but I don't really have much for choices.

Can you send some gyms my way?? Lol we don't even get a/c in the summer... I'm all for being "tough" and "hardcore" but when it's 90 and humid you definitely get cheated out of a good workout.

Haha it's one of the downfalls of not living in a heavily developed area... I would be all over moving but I like living in the country. But man do I love all the amenities the city has to offer.

At one time or another I have probably been to many of the gyms near you Haz. I worked in the fitness industry for a while. Did seminars at several gyms in NJ. SOme you mentioned but Future Fitness is another, WOW another , lets see where else....well the Reedy Bros own work out word and Craig that owns Future Fitness worked with them before he started Future fitness so those places are a lot a like. Especially when it comes to the canned sales presentation but also facilities wise as well.
Anyway my point is your state is crawling with gyms and many of them do really well. I have never seen such a high number of gyms in a concentrated area and many of them are doing well and making money. Some even growing.
