I was fortunate enough to run a gym for the special forces units at Balad, Iraq in 2005, Camp Anaconda, and can vouch for the fact that they demonstrated more humility than any other group of military I met.

I do admire the SAS but with everything I've been watching and know I really think the Americans have the best Special Forces on the planet. The planning, execution and overall capabilities of this division is extremely elite.
There are many tier two units in the US military but out of all of them the seals have become too public IMO. Each units has a different objectives, so each in its own has different capabilities. Everyone cross trains with each other. So to sum it up, no the seals aren't no better than most SF units, with the exception of team 6 and delta detachment. They are the elite of all SF units. As far as the SAS, I disagree with you on that. I worked with both British and Aus SAS and all the operators I worked with were very professional. I also worked with the Polish Grom and those guys kick ass, and IMO had the best snipers. But all the units of our allies were all professionals. We all learned from each other.

Absolutely, at their specific mission set. They all have similar money pumped into them and with that comes training, school, gear and the best pre mission intelligence and post mission analysis that the U.S. Government can muster.

For example, Send in the SEALs and Rangers to secure two airfields under similar conditions and the Rangers take it all day long, too easy. But the SEALs would floor the Rangers at hostage recovery situations or any other irregular warfare scenario.

My step father was Underwater Demolition Team during Vietnam. He was a little out there, very nice guy but in a second could change almost Dr. Jekyl type. More elite than Seals I think it's Delta Force, they are the ones running with Kurdish commandos getting all the kills.

He told us a story, that one time he was with his gfriend (wife as of a year ago) when he got called up asap leave.
His unit (or what ever they would be called) jumped off a plane into a body of water (don't want to say what pond because I don't know).

Ones they hit water he had to float for what seemed to be a half of day.

After a long a$$ time they got picked up. Then dropped off close to land where they rated and swam to shore. Ran miles to there attack location.

This is when they figured out that it was just a drill and there attack location was a army base. Was brought back to his future wife.

All of that within 48 hours. Just to keep them on there toes.

I loved lone survivor... That movie always gets my blood pumping. But I always end up feeling worthless after comparing myself to those men lol. Nothing but respect for those guys and what they can do.
