Had to put down my cat...
My little buddy had been sick for a while but took a turn for the worse the last two weeks. An ultrasound yesterday showed tumours throughout his body. Appetite stimulants weren't working so there was no way to prolong his life in any meaningful way. Took him to the vet a few hours ago and put him down. It was quick and painless but it really sucked to have to do it.
We had a solid 12 years together, more than 1/3 of my life with him. He was the ultimate buddy cat, always at my side and slept in my bed every night with me. My manager was nice enough to give me the day off at the last minute so I could spend time with him.
He was my first pet. I always wanted a cat growing up but allergies in the family prevented us from having any pets. I got him less than a year after I moved out when I was 19. I couldn't have asked for a better pet.

Hate hearing these stories man.
Sorry for your loss.
My wife and I have been arguing about the dogs sleeping in the bed. I can't even sleep when they aren't next to me.
No where even close to what u r going though. ...but I have been there. More then once.
Give it time. Then find a new best friend.

Sorry to hear, real tough.
I had my main man from when I was 22 until 37. We went through think and thin. At some points he was all I had, I look back now and know how blessed I was to have him.
Feel better bro.

Sorry about this, Hoggage. Our 4 legged family members are such a huge part of our life. It will take some time and it doesn't get better, but it will get easier, buddy. I promise.
There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Thanks all... who knew a 15lb ball of fur could mean so much. Like BG, I was very blessed to have him. He was given to me by a complete stranger in an old apartment building I lived in who asked me while in the elevator if I wanted a cat because her cats just had a litter.
I'm not alone though. I have another cat and she's a little angel but my house definitely feels more empty.
