Question What do you guys think of this Laptop?

My parents want to get me a good laptop for college, so I was checking out the websites/ads/EBay for prices and stuff. You guys are the smartest I know, so I figured I'd have you take a look at it and tell me what you think.

I found one that looks good, it's a Sony Vaio that is $1500 Manufacturer retail, $1249 at Best Buy and about $1000 new on EBay.

    It has:

    -2.66 GHz Pentium 4
    -512MB DDR SDRAM
-Windows XP Home edition (Should I upgrade to Pro?)
    -40 GB hard drive
    -CD-RW/DVD drive
-ATI Radeon 64 MB Video Card
    -15" Screen
    -3 USB 2.0 Ports

Look good? I'm going to be running a lot of MP3's, games, engineering software and word processing. Also, what's the best and cheapest way to get 8 gigs of MP3's and video from one computer to another? I don't really want to burn 30 cd's again.

You can either use a serial cable or a usb cable that have both male ends that plug into the computer you want to get the stuff from into the one you want to put it in. Both are cheap options, usb transfers quicker though.

If you've got your house networked you can just connect both computers to the network to transfer all the files. If not, BBB's idea is the way to go.

Beware of the PC's on ebay. Most are refurbished you'll only read that in the fine print.
