    Documentry ----What The Health----

Has anyone ever watched this? I watched some of it under protest. I'll have to say it does have me asking some questions. Curious of the thoughts of anyone else who may have seen it.

Let me go to diet and nutrition section. Wife asked me to watch. It is interesting who the large diners are for some of the health groups though.

Seems like you have to buy it, I found it free differently though.

About the video. They claim a bunch of studies show this and that. But there are studies that contradict those studies. There are studies showing eating a very healthy diet will not increase your lifespan that much, maybe a year or two... Of course, every system has its best before date, be it cardiovascular, insulin /blood sugar, deteriorating telomeres and loss of cells (alzheimers/parkinsons), mutation of cell DNA causing cancer, shit just gets rotten whether you eat good or not.

Charcuteries increasing incidence of colorectal cancer by 18%. The grammar here is misleading. The lifetime prevalence of colorectal cancer is 1/21, which is 4.7%, the probability increases to 5.62%, or one in 18. Just a quick fact I googled. So if you are genetically predisposed to this the chances are high already and get a little higher with charcuteries. If not then you are more likely to die from something else before colorectal cancer catches up to you, charcuteries or not.

The dietary cholesterol theory has been disproved many times.

Salmon is now not good for you? In the beginning of the video they claim the corporations win when they instill doubt in you. And then they claim salmon is not good for you. LATER (nice grammar here!) they claim it's farmed fish.

The rhetorics in the video are good. The grammar has its holes. The logic is imperfect. Why do they want to sell this video for money though? Why does someone believe taking your money will make you healthier? Can't you just write up the articles, present your argument, and do the public good?

Also a big minus for the speakers not making a thorough comparison of charcuteries in general. High vs low quality. The sausage made in your grandmas old village where they just use flesh of the cow vs factory made. Cheese? Are we talking about a $10 per lb chevre or that plasticy sliced "cheese" in vacuum packs in the grocery store, for cents? Wow, they first present to you how instilling doubt makes them win, then they make you doubt everything. Then they interview obese people in the 3-400lb range about how they "gotta take all deez meds".

    Garbage.

I turned it off at the part where it was showing how pig farms are causing cancer in predominantly black communities. Like this is some sort of government conspiracy to commit genocide upon the black community. Most one sided documentary I've ever watched. Seems like it came straight from CNN or msnbc

I guess Cape left his buffalo cowboy style and his beard, and is now eating a plant based vegan diet. :P

On a different note, this video feels very 21st century, culturally. The illustrations and the sound, the music, the lack of grammar and logic, the poor fat dying people, the ultra awesome ultra marathon dude who totally transformed himself (in a way you won't be able to, HAHA!). This video may bring warm feelings as it tickles those parts of the brain associated with emotionality, so it is entertaining. Though let me present a different perspective on life. Look up the average life expectancy, and get used to it. You will die and you might die in a painful way. Deal with it and come to accept it, like an adult. What next? Look back in history and see for how many thousands of years we have had civilizations/societies, and wonder, are you really that much better than all those before you?

No, you are 100% unable to comprehend, in your lifetime, what the scientists have comprehended and brought to us through their research. Just ancient science, say ancient Greek, unless you have an IQ of 160+ (one in thirty thousand people have this, among 100 IQ average populations), the amount of information and the various fields of science will make it an unbearable process to try and learn it all, DESPITE the fact that only a fraction of that information has persisted, because they wrote the best stuff on stone and kept it damn well for a damn long time.

Though you would do yourself a favor if you became educated in the very basic ways; grammar, logic, and then rhetorics. You don't have to become a scientist, but if you spend some of your life in educating yourself, the time after that will be much pleasant. When you have the tools to analyze your surroundings without a bunch of emotionalities affecting you, you can make better judgements, regarding what to do with your life, why things are as they are. When you have just an ounce of rationality you will come to the conclusion that you can steer your life towards a goal. You won't become a magician and make the things you want appear in front of you. "You can't direct the wind, but you can adjust your sails". When you have a good foundation based on rationality, when you can think without getting emotional, you can solve those knots that cause all this cognitive dissonance. Sometimes youre lucky to inherit a way of thinking from your parents, siblings, friends, and you already have those tools. For those who don't, and even for those who do and want to improve, there are endless texts from people who can't profit from you since they've been dead for a very long time.

rnsplg I will never take the boots or the beard off. Lol. I'm just thinking out loud. Why would the diabetes spokesman not want to talk about nutrition. He just says I'm done and walks out. Why would different government agency's fight a bill to have doctors take 7 hrs of nutrition classes every four years? I don't buy into a plant based diet. But there were somethings in the film that did make me wonder.

I would watch it but I have grown enough food and worked on hundreds of farms and grew up on one. I have taken the specimen samples of over 100,000 bulk milk tanks from amish farms to some of the biggest factory type operations in the US.
I am convinced what is killing us and giving us diabeties etc. is not chemicals in food. It is just genetics and lifestyle.

Have you watched one of those ads saying tobbacco companies are aiming their adds at black communities?
Lets think about this, blacks are 13% of the population and the majority of them live in slum neighborhoods. Tobbacco shop, liquor store, 7-11, shitty run down house, fast food joint, and 200 more shitty run down houses and repeat the sequence.
Now go to a nice neighborhood, I work in them a lot, and it is hard to find a spot to piss. Nice neighborhoods are predominantly white. Sorry but its a fact.
Now, I cant piss because of homeowners associations and zoning. They keep the gas stations, 711's, billboards, tobbacco shops, and shitty houses out.
This is why more tobacco ads are in black neighborhoods....
There is no conspiracy, there are more adds period in shitty mneighborhoods.

The great conspiracy everyone suffers from is money. Money is the driving force behind all political and production decisions. Health and well being of the populus is merely a political social platform for $$$$$$$$
If a politician says anything in regards to anything it is a ploy. If a supposedly unattached political organization says something that includes any propoganda that seems to draw you into a particular way of thinking... there is money motivating it.

The only conspiracy is money and it controls every single aspect of life.

One day, by dropping subtle, hints through an outreach foundation I start, I will convince liberals that trees are just as needy as animals and are a responsibility of a home or landowner. They need checkups twice a year, they need us to care, no tree should have dead limbs!

^^^ this is the basic way propaganda is used to make every politician and large company rich.

In the end its all bullshit invented to seperate gullable people from their money.

Tree huggers can get f***** btw! I am sitting on the great plains surrounded by trees and forests that used to be wide open prarie for a thousand miles! Excuse me while I wipe my ass with a red oak tree worth of toilet paper and dont feel in the least bit bad for it.

Money is the great motivator of all people. Like OB says, the only conspiracy is to make more money.

Not to say capitalism is a bad thing. It is the single most effective economic system that has reduce poverty and human suffering in recorded history. The problem lies in a small group of elites that feel they are smarter than the majority of people and make decisions that effect everyone's lives.

The most glaring example is ObamaCare. Everyone in the US MUST participate in the legislation EXCEPT, congressmen and senators. Everyone else has to pay a penalty if they don't comply. Think about that hypocracy for a minute.

Everyone has to participate is the part that gets me. You are forced to buy something from companies or pay the government itself. Total perversion of any constitutional right. If they can force you to buy insurance for your health, they can force you to do anything for the sake of your health, as per the determination of the FDA, department of health, and insurance requirements. It is literally a "get in the cage and be taken care of clause".
Case law determined by the supreme court in the future, will dictate nearly every aspect of what you are and are not allowed to do with your body.

It will all be played off as, "oh, you drink soda? Well we are all paying for your bad decisions so... TAX!"

Its kinda like the patriot act, "The right of the federal government to detain and hold persons without explanation, for the prevention of terrorism and other purposes."
Its the "other purposes" part that completely pisses on the constitution.
Its a disgrace, but we dont give a shit, we are too busy making money to give a damn until its too late and its already too late.
We had a good capitalistic system, socialism will break this country, guaranteed.

I learned that there is a cheeseburger bill. Basically you can't sue a food processor or fast food company for any health issues you have from eating their product. Congress passed this law because they say consumers should know that the product is unhealthy. Therefore they can't sue.

Exactly, everyone has to participate. Whether you know it or not, you are participating in the system. It is designed to make cash move fluidly. Right from the people's hands, to business to government and back around again.

I think their is merit to questioning things. The problem is to many times people look to a documentary or a news source and take it and use whatever the message is and take it as fact and form their opinions based solely on that. Never actually going on and doing their own independent research and spewing the documentary as gospel.

Big example in my life and I'm not proud of it. I'm a huge baseball fan and historian, love the game and all it's history. I was recently introduced to a new book about Ty Cobb. As any baseball person knows, Ty Cobb was a complete ass hat, racist and smear on the game of baseball. I have even gone so far in some of my baseball forums I frequent to call for his removal from the HOF. Why? Because everyone knows he was a bastard. From Al Stump, Cobb the movie, Ken Burns documentary on baseball and general knowledge about the game. We all know how evil Cobb was, or so I thought.

Turns out that he may not have been so bad after all. A lot of the folklore about him was flat out documented lies. Yet it was repeated over and over again throughout the years. As I came to learn, most of it was perpetuated from one mans' opinion and dislike of Cobb. I won't get into specifics with you guys you will have to read the book. But after reading the book three times now, mostly in disbelief and doing my own research. I basically looked at myself and thought how could I have been so gullible to fall for fake news.

It's funny that it didn't take a serious matter to wake me up to the fact that my opinion was based on what appears to be a manufactured lie. Nope, basically a kids game and a long held belief I had. That I am still not fully convinced even though there are a lot of facts smacking me in the face. So I guess in a sence I can see how people can get suckered into a way of thinking or belief.

It doesnt come back around again. Every year the government control a higher percentage of all paycheck, inflation increases and less bang per buck. The more we centralize the less free and weaker each individual is.
Socialism is a parasite in a capitalistic society. Its two dogs fighting for their place. We are taking away capitalisms dog's food and feeding it to socialism dog.
Either socialism dog will grow get swole and overtake capitalism, or it will get fat as hell and lazy as fuck and capitalism dog will rip its throat out.

Capitalism dog is getting skinny though guys.
That fat ass socialism dog is really growing.
Eventually socialism dog will devour capitalism dog and he will starve to death.
From that moment forward, America will just be anotger mediocre place.

Very true, one need only look at Venezuela as the most recent example of socialisms failures. As if there needs to be any more evidence...

Mmm.... Capitalist republic with the largest know oil reserves. The Venezuelan government then established populist policies that initially boosted the Venezuelan economy and increased social spending, significantly reducing economic inequality and poverty.
However, such policies later became controversial, as their excesses especially a uniquely extreme fossil fuel subsidy are widely blamed for destabilizing the nation's economy, resulting in hyperinflation, an economic depression, and drastic increases in poverty, disease, child mortality, malnutrition, and crime.
    Sounds about par.
I dont get it MS? You call yourself a classical liberal but you seem like a right leaner?

Hugo basically nationalized everything, consolidated his power and his successor continued down the same path. Now the average person can't even find bread in stores to buy.

So I guess in a sence I can see how people can get suckered into a way of thinking or belief.
what is the name of the book?

i was/am under the same assumption as you are about Cobb.

remember, the media was very powerful back then, just like today

    Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty

One of the best baseball books I've ever read. It's also very surprising how much most players wanted to play with negro league players. You just assume that nobody wanted them to play in MLB but that also wasn't the case. Cobb was a huge Willy Mays fan, Cobb was not a fan of many players after his playing days.

"Cobb himself was never asked about segregation until 1952, when the Texas League was integrating, and Sporting News asked him what he thought. “The Negro should be accepted wholeheartedly, and not grudgingly,” he said. “The Negro has the right to play professional baseball and whose [sic] to say he has not?” By that time he had attended many Negro league games, sometimes throwing out the first ball and often sitting in the dugout with the players. He is quoted as saying that Willie Mays was the only modern-day player he’d pay to see and that Roy Campanella was the ballplayer that reminded him most of himself."

    Garbage.

    Appreciate the summary.

I really tried watching this "documentary". It was virtually impossible. Calling a switchboard and asking why their organization have a certain stance and not getting a good answer and making that equal to them not knowing anything is pretty much how it starts. Secondly, eating meat is as bad as smoking cigarettes he claims and wondering why people are still eating meat. At this point, I Googled who financed the movie, Joaquin Phoenix, one of PETA's biggest supporters and financial contributors. I turned it off at this point and watched this guy debunk the whole thing.

"ZDoggMD exposes everything wrong with vegan documentary 'What the Health.' He will save you 1.5 hours of your life by not watching the Netflix documentary and also save you an extra 15 years of healthy life by convincing you to not change your diet."

I think my favorite part of this joke of a film (which I saw in the review above) is the black guy stating that the Federal Governments Footplate is "Institutionalised Racism"

Let me know how it goes. I don't think I could eat enough plants for my protein requirements.
