UBI - how stupid are people?
Giving every American $12,000 a year in free money could grow the economy by $2.5 trillion, study finds - Business Insider Nordic
Does anyone really think this is a real study?
Help me, I think I must have died and am living in lala land where logical structures do not exist anymore.

The biggest logical fallacy is assuming that with the same amount of raw materials and working power, increasing the currency makes the economy bigger. Why not just add a zero to every unit of currency then, it will make the economy grow tenfold. Just that there will be no corresponding increase in products and services.
The second biggest logical fallacy is that anyone will become more motivated to be productive, after they get paid for not being productive.

You know what... You're an alright kinda guy. Pretty sure your political mind mirrors mine.
No thing is free. Period.
Most of the people who think in the manner of "free" money stimulating anything, are the same ones who credit Bill Clinton with the largest economic expansion in 4 decades. It was the tech boom that made the expansion. No one had cell phones and few had internet and suddenly everyone got these things. Microsoft, xerox, celluar phones, internet, fiber optics, etc. Made the expansion.
If the new science and technology isn't there to create expansion then no amount of money changing hands will create anything. Its a complete temporary facade of money simply changing hands.
Hell, in the same token bush was blamed for the slowing economy and he gave small economic stimulus's of cash to taxpayers. It did nothing.
Once the infrastructure to support growing technology is put in place jobs start disappearing. Most people over the age of 30 should remember well, in the late 90's when every freaking hill had a tower being built and every road was being laid with fiber, cabinets, and the like.
Well, it was a good decade, we got it built. Everything since is just a small add on compared to the tech boom. We watch millions of jobs disappear and the economy receed. I kind of find it hilarious how presidential policies get the credit for a failing or thriving economy. Its part of it but not nearly as responsible as technology in general.
Go rent a movie from blockbuster and then go buy some cds at your favorite music shop.... Oh... I forgot... Tech evolved past that. Those things that used to be on every corner dont exist anymore because we adapted and shit got easier to access and cheaper. Now instead of driving across town and paying for a movie rental, I visit a kiosk or turn on netflix. There is no cashier or time involved. This is one tiny tiny example.
This is what makes the economic expansions and recessions: technology and commodities.
The rest of it is just money swapping hands for a time that creates nothing new. Give the average man a dollar of some rich guy's and within a week the rich guy will have it back.
A stimulus is a joke. I really like Dave Chappell's skit on reparations. It is spot on the way a stimulus works.
Good post rns.
