    520 hp jeep project

Figured I'd start a thread so anyone interested can follow. I'm putting a new 520 hp blueprint 400 sbc in 1982 cj7. Almost done putting the engine in, but having trouble finding headers that'll work, especially since the heads have the large ports. I have a set of one ton axles from a army truck I plan to put in. They came with .456 gears and lockers. Here's pic of the jeep, and a pic of the engine. I'm planning lots of other modifications, like building a full roll cage.

What are you going to use this for? This isn't for off road is it?

Anyway, are you using custom headers or some type of universal headers that will need some additional work to get in?

What type of rear end are you using?

This will be on and off road. Will have a gm 14 bolt rearend with Detroit locker and .456 gears, Dana 60 front end with locker. Trying to find headers that has 1 7/8" primary tubes and 3" collector. May have to make them

For now I'll be running 37" humvee tires and rims that I got for cheap. When I get the extra money I plan to run 39.5 boggers like in this pic

You guys with your Jeeps. A different breed of people. Love the engine. Wife made me get rid of my "project car" as she called it. As soon as I would get it fixed and drive it for a day something else would break. But I did add some nice tool to my tool box.

Finally found a set of headers I think will work. They're made by Sanderson, block huggers with 1 7/8 primary and 3" collector. Whew

I had 400 hp, 400 sbc in it before, that needs rebuilding. I wanted the extra power to spin the bigger tires (im gonna put on it) in the mud. I'm saving the old engine to rebuild later for another project

My next project, if I can get a hmmwv cheap enough. I already have five ton axles, transfer case and tires and rims that came out of a mrap. Tires are 47", that's one by my old jeep. Probably will put a 572 big block in it

With all these people today and their side by side obsession I have considered dumping 5k into an old ford and making something that kicks the shit out of them in every way.

Little healous of the side by side fuckers and their 40 grand pos. I can build anything and I have a buddy that made custom suspension for dune buggys from scratch to walk me through it but I just don't have the time or enough desire.
