    Meditation

Anyone else Meditate ? If so would love to hear your experiences and if possible include how long each session is and how many weeks/months/years you've been doing it.

Meditating before training sets me up for great sessions.

Been doing it for years, sometimes its harder when stress gets high, but even 5 minutes can completely change my mood or state of mind. The only thing I need is some youtube meditation music lol.

Try the app "Calm" for music. It's on iOS but also Android I believe as well. Completely free, tons of present audio tracks, and you can download the music for offline use to save on data if you use it while travelling.

    Define meditate

Do you mean to free your mind of thoughts and become calm or to put yourself into a certain frame of mind you find best suited to lifting?

I prefer medication over meditation but both together can be a good thing unless you are clearing your mind to relax.

Last time I checked it wasnt a good idea to jump off the recliner and deadlift.

I've used many forms of meditation but the one what really helps and has proven to be a very valuable tool is Mindfulness meditation. This helps me bringing myself into the present instead of the past or future, it also helps to be aware of your thoughts and feelings what entangle your mind in this chaotic world and helps you de-clutter your mind and set you free. Once you master this the world looks different and your internal mind and self becomes aware and sends powerful pleasure signals into your life.

I don't use it for training or pre training - this is a whole different mind set for me I need to get to ignite the intensity I need to complete a workout.

I want to know your training mindset.
I want to know if you are like me.
Is it darkness and hate in your mind or some kind of good natured focus?

Learn how to train your mind and you will develop further not only mentally but physically aswell. Everything starts in your mind Obs - I think about certain things what have happened to me in my past what ignites my adrenalin and releases an inner aggression what I can only state as unstoppable. I talk to my inner self and take away everything around me, I am alone and can only hear my inner voice speaking and I drift to a time and relive an event in my mind like I am there again.
The feelings what I felt at the time I feel again, the atmosphere I feel around me exactly like it was, I relive the exact circumstances at that moment and how I felt after and this completely isolates me from the outside world and I am stuck in the past reliving an event. At a moments notice I can come straight out into this rage and channel these emotions into the working set with the adrenalin flowing and my inner voice shouting at me. I also use another method which works for me also, I can also concentrate and watch myself doing the working and yet again take myself out of the situation I am in and go through in my head what is about to happen and I can trigger the inner aggression. I know I want it so much, I know I have to take myself to places were my body has not been before, I know its going to hurt but I kind of like that knowing I am about to inflict pain onto myself, this again ignites all these feelings inside of me that make me feel unstoppable and no one could out lift or train with the same intensity as me. That's what I feel when I am in this zone I know no one can come close I truly believe this and with that positive thinking I can take myself to failure and beyond. Neither of the above are meditation processes though lol its another mind set I go into and rather easy to achieve after all this long. The mind also needs training to go into this zone, its not something what you can suddenly do, it needs to be learnt.

    Hello and Thank you

Marcus I learned the mindful meditation and I use it as part of my bedtime routine.

I've only been practising for the last 2 months but I love it. Being able to spend 10 minutes relaxing before bed with no technology makes a big difference to me.

I started at 5 minutes per day and I'd like to try and reach 15 minutes per day by end of year.

One of the hardest activities I've ever attempted but enjoying every day.

It is extremely hard to master but I feel its only time before you do. Mindfulness is one of the best for someone like me it seems to de-clutter my mind and really makes me relaxed. It is something you have to keep practising to experience the benefits.

I guess it is a form of some kind of meditation in certain circles, most probably these circles are people who go fishing/fishing holidays

That's one of the reasons why some use this form of meditation. It helps to accept and understand things while de-cluttering your mind. It can be a helpful tool for some but i fully understand it's not everybody's tool. It's also very hard to get into this space were your totally at peace and relaxation. It took me wks to master it and was on the verge of stopping it but once mastered it's a super high feeling

You control it like a switch. Sometimes when I get in my zone (really good days) I can't come back to reality so easy. I stay sequestered until I can rejoin the human race.

After reading a bit about you I believe you have the same spot for failure I have. You are right too, most don't have it.

There is nothing good natured about me when lifting. Its a killer mindset I put myself in. I clearly havent mastered it because sometimes I struggle to get there and sometimes just can't leave.

You are not doing meditation if you think about something.

The point of meditation is *not* to think, to completely empty your mind.

It takes practice and its hard.

This day and age it's a breath of fresh air to see people engage in meditation, I think its a phenomenal way to release stress and sort out your thoughts.

Now with technology and the internet being utilized in social aspects so often I feel like society is losing its touch with nature. Nothing is organic or pure anymore, you can almost experience life without ever going outside now haha. There's pills for this and pills for that, people just quickly want to rush into taking some type of pill without rehabilitating in any form of natural ways. (Actually ironic I'm sitting here discussing how nobody likes natural things on a steroid board haha)

I had drug issues in the past and in my early years of life, when I try to self medicate it never really goes well and usually takes me down a path of destruction before I even realize it. My brain races a million miles an hour sometimes and I would just prefer to learn to control that rather then taking something that would dumb me down or numb my logical thinking process.

Meditation is awesome. It takes some practice and work just like anything else so don't get discouraged if you don't quite grasp the concept your first time trying it out. I listen to a lot of Alan Watts and do guided meditations at nights or in the mornings and I'm glad I found it. Couple of buddies have been discussing a trip soon out to the desert kind of like a weekend retreat, just sit out there for 2 days, escape the everyday flow and rhythm of life among other things.

    Awesome to see this man!

Sounds like my way of slowing down and trying to clear my mind too. I shut everything like phones, computer etc. Learned this when the power went out one day and it got so silent I could hear my heart beat when I laid on my bed. Takes a while to get the brain silent but very refreshing afterwards.
