Well, to add to an older post. I went in last week for another check up, mainly due to noticing an area on my other ear that started to scab up. Naturally they sliced it off and sent it away for testing. Confirmed again yesterday a more squamous cell carcinoma. Lovely.
They'll be calling me early next week to schedule another MOH's Therapy (refer to first post for explanation) followed by a plastic surgeon. WTF.
Wear hats boys and girls and sunscreen!
I'll post gruesome pics again if they let me take them. Pretty sure they will as it's the same doc and it's my F'n ear.....

Damn man sorry to hear. Hope they take care of it once and for all. I need to do my yearly derm appointment. Shaved head leaves me exposed. Best wishes!

I wonder if you'd benefit from taking 'Melanotan 2' to get your skin a bit darker? Right now I'm on a maintenance dose of 1 mg/wk and it keeps me dark.
I realise even people as dark as Samuel L Jackson can get skin cancer, but I wonder in your own case, if these new patches would become less frequent and less severe if you had a suntan?

I just throw it out there that isn't very likely. People that naturally have lower levels of melanin are predisposed to skin cancers. However, people with higher melanin levels are affected as well.
Also, there's an age factor to be considered. People over 50 are the ones that are typically affected, but younger individuals with high UV exposure are affected as well.
For what it's worth, you're taking much more MT2 than is needed for a maintenance dose. Just a piece of friendly advice. Not trying to debate what you may be doing to your kidneys. There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Wow even black people can get skin cancer? How do you know? JK. Scientifically there is no genetic differences between the DNA of any modern race of human. Of course black people can sun burn. They also breathe, pee, and poop.
Now let’s get back to advocating people tan more in a skin cancer thread rofl

If that were true then a DNA paternity test on Britney Spears would show that I'm not only Britney Spears's father, but that I am also simultaneously Britney Spears (or at least her identical twin).

Ok, saw the plastic surgeon. Unecessary visit imho. Surgery is set for next Thursday with one doc then I see the plastic surgeon the next day. He basically said best case scenario is it's just a little shaving off and no big deal. Worst case is kinda like a small pie cut out, then he'd fix it. He showed me pics for examples, nice.

Good news, just get it cut out…biopsied and be on your way. You were never pretty to begin with and Evander Holyfield has made it cool to have bite marks in your ears
I worry less about your aesthetics, everyone will love you regardless. Just get that SCC cut out and then on to whatever life has waiting for you next.
Appreciate the update brother, you’ve been on my mind.

Biopsy done. Surgery and plastic surgeon follow up both this Thursday back to back, which is great instead of the day after.
Oh but, my week gets even better. Earlier this week (Sunday) I was trimming shrubs in the yard and got attached by wasps. Got my ankle. It's been swollen up until today. Next, my dog got sick and needed emergency surgery on Wednesday so she's still in the hospical until tomorrow or Sunday. She should be ok. Love that little dog.
Next, same day the dog went into the hospital I was feeling weird around the right side of my abs and around my side to my lat area. Felt like I was hit with a bat or something and had no clue why. Got home, took a shower and saw a rash on my side. Sent a pic to a doc friend and he said it's shingles. F'n lovely. I have the meds I need but it has to run it's course, which could be 2-4 weeks or more. Fortunately getting on the meds quick will help mitigate it but damn, reading up on it I never knew it was such an issue. If you had chicken pox when younger you're succeptable to getting it.
Anyway, it effects the nerve endings and makes them hypersensitive and painful. Painful is an understatement. Hitting bumps while driving hurts and you get random pains. Particularly in one ab muscle. Feels like a stab. So far it doesn't itch at all.
I had just started seeing ads on TV for the vaccine for it too. So, go get the vaccine. I believe it's free at pharmacies. I'll be getting it post shingles so I don't get them again. Heading downstairs to see if I can do shoulders and triceps now.

Damn Kel, that sucks. Very glad your dog is ok, I feel your pain, just went through scary times with my cat who is the love of my life.
We’ve known a few folks that have been unfortunately struck with shingles; the pain is not mild for sure. My wife had hers and I actually was scheduled for mine & then we had the pandemic. Thanks for the reminder. Hope you have better weeks ahead. Continued best wishes for your dog.

Oh I'm not down. It just hurts. I've not missed any workouts. Oddly enough once I get moving the weights I feel better. Maybe it's blood flow, not thinking about it, no clue. I can be sitting still and get pains like the skin is tearing. When my shirt rubs against the skin to much it's painful. Imagine that.
Highly recommend the vaccine. I'll be getting it soon as this clears up.
Appreciate the comments guys. Vet called again today, dog is doing better and hope to have her home tomorrow.

Hey Kel, all the best! I did the shingles vac right before COVID hit, it’s 2 shots with in 6 mos.
Unfortunately someone told me it only last a year or so??? Not sure.

Finally made myself read this -
Nice stuff
But, in comparison to other health issues this isn’t really that awful
It is tho - My neighbor told me about her’s, so I did research on MOHS < wonderful stuff really
Specially depending on where it is

I had similar last year but at the side of my nose..... made it awkward for surgery. Easy if in the middle of back or chest. My ex took the piss about it saying it was gross otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered about it! Went private as NHS were doing nothing here because of the go slow in hospitals because of "the Covid 19 pandemic" My local private clinic were not permitted to carry out the op because of Covid! I had to go to Harley Street in London for the procedure, I was permitted to have the biopsy at my local hospital though. They got the cancer out in one go the first time but I had to wait until the next day for the dermatologist to sew me up
My advice .... get suspicious lumps and bumps checked out by the experts before they can cause you too much harm!

Well, had the surgery last Thursday and immediate closure of the wound by plastic surgeon. Pics below. Naturally they give out a typed out list of what not to do post surgery. One was exercising for two weeks, yeah right. So, I figured I'd go grocery shopping later in the day and give it some time before shoulders and tri's in the evening. While driving there I happened to sneeze twice back to back. A moment later I felt blood dripping down my neck. At this point I decided to skip the days workout. Point taken. Following days were just fine.
Wear your sunscreen!

Well, here's the next iteration of Squamous Cell Carcinoma and what gets chopped out of me.
Went for a checkup about a month ago for a couple spots on my legs. Like pimples than got scabby (hope everyone's eating now) and wouldn't heal. Sensitive to touch. Doc does an initial slice and sends them away to determine exactly what they are/were. Couple weeks later they call you. One was more SCC and the other nothing to worry about. So, more MOHS therapy was lined up. Here's what they did this time:
It's fascinating to watch them do it. Plus I make them take pictures which they shake their heads at. I also pointed out the other area that they cut and analyzed as negative as it seems to be coming back. Surgeon said they did not go deep enough for a valid sample so he cut more off to be re-analyzed. Hopefully this is not SCC as well. I'm being sliced and diced!
My point for the update! Wear sunscreen, big hats, etc. as too much sun will bite you in the ass later.
Thanks for reading!
