the only exception to that is if the person fleeing is a known felon, and or the police officer witnessed the felony..

Don’t know the laws. I just keep seeing crap on the news where the police are crucified publicly because the person “was only running away”.

My rules:

Talk back to a law enforcement officer (except yes-sir/ma’am, no-sir/ma’am) expect to be beaten until you shut the f up. Includes if your hands are up. Everyone has excuses, they are like a**-holes. Everyone’s got them & usually they aren’t pleasant, so keep them to yourself.

Raise a hand to them (even a little shove), expect to be beaten to their discretion. If they want to use batons, fine. Use multiple officers, fine. If they feel adequately threatened, they shoot you. You made the choice, accept the consequences.

You turn your back or ignore them: ass-kicking to they have your undivided attention.

You run: expect to get shot. It ain’t their job to run down a kid who does a 4.5 40. If they accidentally kill you, fine. You made the decision.

Train them better, interview and test candidates better.
Pay them better.
Shorter shifts.
More cops.
More frequent vacations.
Early retirement.
Fantastic health & disability insurance.
Insane pensions.

Right now they should selectively strike & see how the public likes it fending for themselves.
