My crazy housemate

I rent a room in a house where my housemate is the landlord, i.e. he owns the house. He's an alright guy. . . I mean he won't be best man at my wedding or anything but he's a cool enough guy.

Well anyway he ordered an emu egg off eBay last week. An emu is a very tall bird similar in appearance to an ostrich or a flamengo. It's native to Australia. The egg is blue in colour, and he has it in an incubator in the spare room. We turn the egg over about 5 or 6 times a day.

If this egg hatches and we have a pet emu then I'll have to go one better than him. I might even try to source a flamengo egg (that's the tall pink bird).

In others news I collected a 3-man inflatable paddle boat from the post office today and I'm bringing it to a nudist swim next weekend.

I got this off Amazon for $35 delivered and I'm taking it out on the lake tomorrow. The paddles are fixed to the boat so you can pull hard on them and get a stroke going.

I took the boat out on the lake today. It was pretty cold. In hindsight it was a little stupid coz if the boat took a puncture then I would have been wearing heavy clothes and a coat in very cold water. We didn't have life vests either.

Next time might do it when the water is at least tolerably warm and I'm not wearing heavy clothes.
