Trump: gun, ammo manufature & sales (& shooting ranges) essential

Straight from the website of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency:

Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce

MEMORANDUM ON IDENTIFICATION OF ESSENTIAL CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE WORKERS DURING COVID-19 RESPONSE

    March 28, 2020

LAW ENFORCEMENT, PUBLIC SAFETY, AND OTHER FIRST RESPONDERS

    * Workers supporting the manufacturing of safety equipment and uniforms for law enforcement, public safety personnel, and first responder.

    * Workers supporting the operation of firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges.

Typical Trump bullshit. Loopholes big enough to pass a hospital ship through.

Also from the website, in the original bold type:

This list is advisory in nature. It is not, nor should it be considered, a federal directive or standard. ... Individual jurisdictions should add or subtract essential workforce categories based on their own requirements and discretion.

So there is no mandatory designation. It's still up to the local jurisdiction or state. The list is much ado about nothing.

Why not just say any business important enough to be licensed by the federal government is thereby deemed to be essential and is important enough to remain open?

seen Trump yesterday brag about how much ammo they have acquired. Federal govt is stock piling ammo while they load up printing presses to print fake money to hand out.
would actually be better if they handed out the ammo rather then the paper money

I think he was referring to when he came into office some of the military leaders approached him advising that they don't have near enough ammo to be prepared for emergencies due to the prior administration decimation of the military. That's how I understood it anyway.

Under the previous administration it was the IRS that was stockpiling ammo, no doubt because they expected resistance to their mandatory health insurance scheme. The individual mandate (and penalties) how having been struck down, it's all just sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Without that penalty there's no longer any enforcement mechanism so the State of Texas is appealing to SCOTUS that since there no longer is any enforcement mechanism the entire law is invalid.

The only “emergency” a domestic agency would have, would involve using that ammo against our country’s population. That’s not a good thing. Only an asshole masquerading as a president would brag about a condition such as that.

I wholeheartedly support the gun dealers and ranges staying open, but man they really have some beanpods working in there... millennial beanpods.

I went to get some large rifle primers, some H4831, some Sierra GameKing .270 Winchester bullets, and saw they had some of the Sig V-Crown in .45 ACP marked down as a discontinued item, so I said screw it for $13, I'll buy the damn things.

Now, I understand they are limiting people to 1000 primers/day, 1 container of smokeless powder/ day and 2 boxes of ammo. However when I get to the counter, the airhead that was ringing up my order said I would have to either put back one box of the Sig ammo or the box of .270 bullets. I explained to him the bullets are not ammunition, simply a component of ammunition. He still didn't comprehend or was a jackass, so I asked to see the manager. The manager was at lunch, but he was the assistant manager....pfffft.
I politely asked him to ring up what you understand then. As I left, I leaned over so others wouldn't hear it and embarrass the kid and told him he needed to learn the store he is "managing", because he is a full- blown idiot.

Made me feel better anyway. Then I came home and ordered a pound of Vhitavouri N350 and paid the damn Hazmat fee I was trying to avoid in the first place.

But yes, I'm glad our president added firearm dealers and ranges to the " critical industry" list.

Now if I can get Midway to ship my base and rings for my new scope, I'll be temporarily happy. ( Not giving Midway a hard time, got a lot of love that company).

So now they're sitting on an assload of 5.56 and transitioning to 6.8 SPC or cased telescoped rounds of an intermediate caliber depending on the weapon platform, correct?
