    Vestibular Migraines

    Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone here has or has had vestibular migraines? Long story short, I started having these in 2015. Before all this occurred, I was having body pain all over, which the doctors said it was fibromyalgia. I was 25 years old when it all started and am now 31 years old. Since then, I've dealt with an off balance, rocking/swaying feeling like I'm on a boat 24/7. Somedays are worse than others. I've tried antidepressants with no luck and was trying to figure out which supplements may help for it.

Any tips/help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Fibromyalgia is a medical term that means: Not sure wtf is wrong with you.

Check bp A1-c blood glucose when feeling low.... and get a full blood panel and post it here.

Of course there could be a perfect medical explanation for what you're experiencing, but I'd advise don't be so quick to assume it's medical. It could be psychosomatic.

An intermittent feeling of imbalance, along with a strong preoccupation with bodily sensations, can have a mental root.

Our body is full of sensors... vision, hearing, touch. Usually if our mind is focused on something, or if it's not focused at all, then these bodily sensations don't really get our attention. People who are traumatised or have a history of trauma can focus intensely on, and amplify, the sensations we normally disregard.

Regardless of whether what you're experiencing is genuinely medical, or psychosomatic, now is a good time to start meditating. You might be without complaint within a month of meditating daily.

Also, you could see a physiotherapist who can show you simple exercises to retrain your vestibular nerve. About 14 years ago I had vertigo and went to see a physio. Looking back now, I reckon my vertigo was psychosomatic. The physio exercises did no harm though.

This sounds like PPPD in which vestibular exercises could be beneficial, and therapy because as you said being anxious about the dizziness can cause it to stay around

Try to find a physical therapist that specializes in vestibular issues. I’m not clear about your usage of anti-depressants for that issue, if this truly is an inner ear. issue. Is there an anxiety issue, is that what possibly was contributing to the body pain? Is that what the anti-depressants were intended for? Good luck; these both can be difficult issues to overcome, but they can be, so don’t give up hope!

Amitriptyline a tricyclic, is sometimes used for it's actions on neurotransmitters. It improves the symptoms for some, not so much for others.

Edit: Don't know if was the exact antidepressant being used, just a thought.
