    Getting my first tattoo

Been thinking about getting a tattoo for over 10 years and finally took some time to decide what I want. I have no idea what to expect or how much it's going to cost lol. Talked to some friends and they all have different opinions and experiences which I expected. How was it for you guys?

Here's my ideas really like the one in the red shirt maybe with the tore up.look of the others.

The first and third are amazing, either one will fit well on your arm, bro

Dude I'm in the same situation as you are currently.
I decided that I want to get my first tattoo on my right arm, I have the idea of getting my tattoo based on the film "300" ... I will put a lot of Spartans in action, ancient temples of ancient Greece and mythological beings. I intend to do some Spartans on the anti arm with the shields in defense mode .. I already talked to my tattoo artist about my idea, now I just have to confirm if I am going to do it for him to elaborate the tattoo design with the proportion of my arm!
Man, tattoo is something that will stay for a lifetime, so it has to have an important meaning for us. The Spartans for me, conveys honor and courage, a man without fear of danger. That's why I chose this theme.

Also looking forward to my tattoo! These tattoos of the United States flag are beautiful, I would choose the first or the third.

I've been thinking about it for on and off 20-12 years but could never decide what I wanted told my GF I definitely wanted to incorporate a flag and she showed me a picture of just a flag tattoo and I loved it and I'm allredy starting to think of the next. Sucks with covid 19 going on because he had to put down a $100 deposit to even talk to the artist and he's booked to September the guy is highly recommend and I guess too many people were wasting his Time .

It's going to be a lot of money for something like that, so think about it. You'll have it for the rest of your life. People change, and what you think you like now, you may not like 10 years down the road. I don't want any more tattoos, personally. Since everyone from the lunchroom lady at a middle school to a jet pilot has them, tattoos kind of lost their magic for me.

I've waited over 10 years lol. I chose the flag because it's something that I feel I will allways like even though I don't like the direction this country is heading at the moment I will still look at the flag and remember what it stands for. As far as price I've gotten all different opinions from friends most of which are less than I thought but I don't want to cheap out on something I have to have for the rest of my life. I'm just hoping it's 1200 or less if not I might go a bit smaller.

The best recommendation I have, especially for larger pieces is don't set a budget. Clothes and other materialistic items are where you can cut corners, not body modifications that you have for life.

For my biggest one I sat for 3 sessions. 1st/8hrs 2nd/4hrs 3rd/4hrs. Probably have at least 2hrs left on the inside of the arm.
You get what you pay for. I’m in over $1k right now not including tip.

I’m into the 1000’s as well. You get what you pay for, for sure.

I’m also of the belief that you shouldn’t die without a tattoo you regret. There’s a reason I keep Yosemite Sam on my thigh from 1991...it’s to remind me that I wont always make the best decisions, and that’s ok.

I like the middle flag the best, but honestly all three are sweet. The bigger the piece, the better the detail. Need more folks celebrating the flag anyways, excited to see your finished work.

I’m working on the other half of my back, can’t wait. Plus it’ll cover up the gorilla hair I grow daily

Definitely not gonna cheap out on this I got a few
different recommendations from friends but they all agree this guy is good. I've seen some pictures of flags he's done and they look awesome. He's allredy booked till the end of September and I have no idea how many sessions, or how long it's going to take. I'm excited and a bit nervous I talked to a few different people got everything from it it hurts to I actually enjoy getting it done. how did it feel for you guys?

Thats a cool piece, been wanting a flag on my forearm. I dont want to quite cover myself in tatts i only have a couple right now but i do plan on several more. Like they said , and my best advice would be set an unlimited budget. I took the bait on a “cheap” tattoo and regret it big time. Never again

I have around 40+ hours at least and $1000's into all of my tattoos.
    Just remember
    Good tattoos aren't cheap
    and cheap tattoos are good.

Do your research and check out the artist. A Good artist will be booked up for at least 5-6 weeks in advance if not months.
Ask them to see their book of past work they have done, most reputable artist will have one.

Are tattoo shops even allowed open again?

BTW how often do you think you'd have to get something like that flag touched up so that it doesn't bleed in to a big blob?

Well said. Last thing you want is some chicken scratching apprentice “practicing” on you because the price is right.

Their styles are important too. Some specialize in old school, geometric, tribal, Japanese, portrait work...find one that has completed work in their book that is similar to the style you like

Got my appointment coming up in a few weeks gonna be $900 which is right around what I was thinking.

  19. #19
Got it started the other day still needs some more work. For me it really didn't hurt much just felt like sunburn after a while, the price less than what I was originally told because I didn't need any breaks and my skin took the ink very well.

Looking good bro! You’re on your way

I’ve been thinking about getting a “we the people” tattoo. Feeling patriotic lately.

    Nice work

Im not a tattoo guy myself but if you really think about it tattoos are worth spending some coin on.

It lasts forever, and even if you only lived 10 more years thats only like 3 bucks a day for a 1000 dollar tattoo.

People blow my mind when they shop around for

They didn’t say that about the Yosemite Sam I got on my thigh in 1991. The artist said “are you sure you really want to put that there kid”?!

    I should’ve listened
