How long does whey powder last?

I found an old 5lb bottle of whey powder in a moving box, best before date was April 2017. I opened it and it's not clumpy, still smells like new.

    Anyone use "expired" whey before?

I did, but it smelled rank....not like usual whey isolate smells. Bloated my stomach up horribly and not too long after I got food poisoning; but I don't think the food poisoning was related to the old whey powder.

I've used stuff that was more than a year past date, tasted great no problems. But shortly after I broke the seal it started to smell, and I threw it out. Apparently the oil breaks down over time, and then when its exposed to oxygen it starts to go rancid. Eat it while it smells good I guess.
