Last Surviving Iwo Jima Medal of Honor Recipient Makes Pilgrimage to Iwo Jima Memoria
Last Surviving Iwo Jima Medal of Honor Recipient Makes Pilgrimage to Iwo Jima Memorial
The last surviving Medal of Honor recipient to have fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima, Hershel “Woody” Williams, made a visit to the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington, Virginia...
... Williams’ efforts helped to neutralize one of the most fanatically defended Japanese strongholds his regiment had encountered. For his actions, he received the Medal of Honor from President Harry S. Truman during a group ceremony at the White House on Oct. 5, 1945. Ten other Marines and two sailors also received the honor that day...
... “This medal doesn’t belong to me. It belongs to them because they gave their lives for me,” he said, trying to hold back tears. “I was just doing a job that I was trained to do.”..
From Williams' Wikipedia page:
...[Williams] landed on the beach with the 1st Battalion, 21st Marines. Williams, by then a corporal, distinguished himself two days later when American tanks, trying to open a lane for infantry, encountered a network of reinforced concrete pillboxes. Pinned down by machine gun fire, his company commander asked one of his men to attach a high explosive charge to a pole and with the support of Williams and his flamethrower and several Marine riflemen, shove the improvised weapon into an opening in the enemy's pillbox. As they fought their way to the pillbox, all of the men, except Williams, became casualties. Undeterred, Williams arrived at the first pillbox, shoved the flamethrower nozzle into the pillbox opening and fired the weapon, killing all of the soldiers inside. He then returned five times to his company area, refueled his weapon, and moved forward to destroy the remaining pillboxes.
Covered by only four riflemen, he fought for four hours under terrific enemy small-arms fire and repeatedly returned to his own lines to prepare demolition charges and obtain serviced flame throwers. He returned to the front, frequently to the rear of hostile emplacements, to wipe out one position after another. At one point, a wisp of smoke alerted him to the air vent of a Japanese bunker, and he approached close enough to put the nozzle of his flamethrower through the hole, killing the occupants. On another occasion, he was charged by enemy riflemen who attempted to stop him with bayonets and he killed them with a burst of flame from his weapon.
These actions occurred on the same day that two flags were raised on Mount Suribachi, and Williams, about one thousand yards away from the volcano, was able to witness the event. He fought through the remainder of the five-week-long battle even though he was wounded on March 6 in the leg by shrapnel, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart....
Oddly omitted fro the linked story, Williams now is 96. Semper-Fi, Devil Dog!

I watched 5:52 seconds of this and i didnt see any “confirmation” , should i watch the remaining nonsense spewed by these two fools? Sounds like propaganda to me. Audio clip or video clip would be some hard evidence for this claim.
Speaking of some hard video evidence, i have seen Joe acting very strange around younger people. Extremely touchy feely, creeping feeling. Now being very patriotic as i am, if evidence...real evidence came forth our President said such about our veterans i would be appalled and quite frankly pissed the fuck off.
I dont know , hopefully they present some hard evidence. I havent dug very far into it honestly mainly bc im drifting farther and farther away from politics

here...
Trump calls for Fox News journalist to be fired for report on war dead scandal
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...oldiers-losers
Trump got so pissed he called for her to be fired.
Here is her tweets that confirm it....
https://twitter.com/JenGriffinFNC/st...75321495973889
Here is another source that confirms it...
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-soldiers.html
'My sources are unimpeachable': Fox News' Jennifer Griffin stands by bombshell story which she says confirms Trump disparaged wounded and killed soldiers - after president and his supporters demanded she be fired
Trump called US soldiers killed or injured 'losers' and 'suckers', senior administration sources told The Atlantic
The Atlantic says Trump cancelled a visit a US war grave because he was worried about his hair in the rain
The president was expected to attend a ceremony at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in Paris in 2018
He reportedly asked: 'Why should I go to that cemetery? It's filled with losers'
He also allegedly referred to 1,800 Marines who died in the WWI Battle of Belleau Wood in France as 'suckers'
Trump is also alleged to have said he didn't understand why the US would intervene on the side of the Allies
The president allegedly said those who served in the Vietnam were 'losers' as they failed to dodge the draft
Fox News and the Washington Post have confirmed the reporting, while AP has confirmed part of it
The White House mounted furious pushback, hammering the piece for using anonymous sources
Trump also said Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin, who confirmed The Atlantic story, should be fired
So if even Fox news is reporting something bad about Trump...
And here is proof of him calling McCain a loser.
McCain, a POW who refused early release from capitivity so he could stay with his fellow soldiers.

Trump thinks, that much is true. The rest is a lie.
Atlantic editor-in-chief starts walk-back of lies about Trump disrespecting Troops
... The fake story has already fallen apart. Already, about a dozen current and former White House officials, many of whom were there, have gone on the record to deny it ever happened (including officials who despise Trump).
The proof the Atlantic story is fake continues to pile up…
First off, none of the so-called sources will go on the record. Goldberg laughingly claims they are worried about mean tweets. My guess is that they are worried about a libel suit.
Secondly, everyone who was there and willing to go on the record, says it’s a lie....Last edited by Beetlegeuse; 09-09-2020 at 01:37 PM.

So by your logic Qanon is a complete fallacy.
Fuck, anonymous is right in the name. ("anon" is short for anonymous in case you didn't know.)
So happy now.
I was starting to believe that people actually believed that Qanon bullshit.
But thankfully your logic proves them all wrong.
I was so curious of how...
If there was such a super powerful cabal controlling the world...
How did they actually lose an election?
Thought they were super powerful...

And what does the regular world think of Breitbart...
https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/breitbart/
Overall, we rate Breitbart Questionable based on extreme right-wing bias, the publication of conspiracy theories and propaganda as well as numerous false claims.
If you only read radical right wing propaganda then your views will tend to be biased...

We purged this community for a reason, let’s leave it be. I like the call out Moose and appreciate the ownership DD.
Just because there’s a worm on a hook, it doesn’t mean you have to take the bait.
As Kel said (and sticking with the threads intent) pretty damn incredible story. What that generation did was nothing short of amazing

The whole story is lies (except the parts that are bullshit)
On-the-record sources, paper trail rebut anonymous claims Trump disrespected American war dead
A growing list of senior officials traveling with President Trump in 2018 as well as official Navy documents rebut "The Atlantic" magazine's anonymously sourced claims about a canceled presidential visit to an American World War I cemetery in France.
A growing list of government heavyweights traveling with President Trump in 2018 as well as official Navy documents rebut "The Atlantic" magazine's anonymously sourced claims about President Trump skipping a visit to an American military cemetery in France...
... [G]overnment documents obtained in a FOIA request by BuzzFeed shows the Navy canceled the troop cemetery visit due to rain.
"Regarding the lede of this story: I obtained documents from the Navy via #FOIA about Trump's 2018 trip to Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris and the documents say his transport was canceled by the Navy due to rain," Jason Leopold, a senior investigative reporter for BuzzFeed, tweeted while linking to documents showing military officials refusing to support a helicopter flight due to inclement weather.
After his article was published, Goldberg himself even admitted he believed the President's account of why the cemetery trip was nixed. (emphasis added)
"I'm sure all of those things are true," Goldberg told CNN in an interview with CNN's "New Day" on Friday after he was asked about an account from John Bolton, Trump's former national security adviser. Bolton wrote in his recent book "The Room Where it Happened" (which is otherwise highly critical of Trump) about the helicopter trip being cancelled due to rain and the ground transportation options being curtailed due to traffic constraints that would be placed on the French people...
... "I didn't hear either of those comments or anything even resembling them," Bolton told John Roberts of Fox News. "I was there at the point in time that morning when it was decided that he would not go Aisne-Marne cemetery. He decided not to do it because of John Kelly's recommendation. It was entirely a weather-related decision, and I thought the proper thing to do."
Bolton belongs to a much longer list of current and former government officials, many of whom were with the president at the time, who have now spoken out on the record either to factually refute The Atlantic's claims or attest that they are wildly out of character. Some of those public rebuttals follow below:
Trump advisor Derek Lyons: "I was with the President the morning after the scheduled visit. He was extremely disappointed that arrangements could not be made to get him to the site and that the trip had been canceled. I have worked for the President for his entire administration. One of my responsibilities is working with him on the many letters he signs to the families of our nation's fallen heroes. In all my time at the White House, I have never heard him utter a disparaging remark, of any kind, about our troops. In my view, he holds the brave men and women of our armed forces in the highest regard."
U.S. Ambassador to France and Monaco Jamie McCourt: "In my presence, POTUS has NEVER denigrated any member of the U.S. military or anyone in service to our country. And he certainly did not that day, either. Let me add, he was devastated to not be able to go to the cemetery at Belleau Wood. In fact, the next day, he attended and spoke at the ceremony in Suresnes in the pouring rain."
Trump Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino: "I was with POTUS in France, with Sarah, and have been at his side throughout it all. Complete lies by 'anonymous sources'…"
Trump Senior Advisor Stephen Miller: "The President deeply wanted to attend the memorial event in question and was deeply displeased by the bad weather call."
Former presidential advisor Johnny DeStefano: "I was on this trip. The Atlantic bit is not true. Period."
Former Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Walsh: "I can attest to the fact that there was a bad weather call in France and that the helicopters were unable to safely make the flight. Overall, the President's support and respect for our American troops, past and present, is unquestionable."
Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders: "I was actually there and one of the people part of the discussion — this never happened."
Former Deputy Chief of Staff Zach Fuentes: "I did not hear POTUS call anyone losers when I told him about the weather."
Maj. General (Ret.) William Matz: "No one has done more for our veterans than President Trump, and he enjoys a relationship of mutual affection and honor with those who wear and have worn the uniform of the United States military and their families. Those who know President Trump know that the anonymous smears peddled by The Atlantic have no basis in fact or reality, and do a terrible disservice to journalism and to our veterans, living and deceased."
Secretary Of Defense Mark Esper: "President Trump has the highest respect and admiration for our nation's military members, veterans and families. That is why he has fought for greater pay and more funding for our armed forces."
Secretary Of State Mike Pompeo: "I've been with this president now for coming on four years. I've never heard the president use the language that assertively is said in that article."
Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie: Denied ever hearing President Trump make such remarks: "Absolutely not."
Deputy Chief of Staff Tony Ornato: Denied the Atlantic's story.
Lt. General and National Security Advisor to Vice President Pence Keith Kellogg: "The Atlantic story is completely false. Absolutely lacks merit. I've been by the President's side. He has always shown the highest respect to our active duty troops and veterans with utmost respect paid to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice and those wounded in battle."
Former Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney: "I never heard the President disparage our war dead or wounded. In fact, the exact opposite is true. I was with him at the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Normandy. As we flew over the beaches by helicopter he was outwardly in awe of the accomplishments of the Allied Forces, and the sacrifices they paid."
If anybody (else) is counting, that makes the score Trump: 16, lying demoncrats: 0.
