Lightbulb Tattoo healing period tips advice

Hello I got a tattoo on my arm exactly this Tuesday, and my tattoo artist did not prescribe any ointment to put on it.

What do you have to say about that, brothers?
The tattoo on the arm measures about 40 cm, and even then the tattoo artist said that I was not supposed to use ointment, because it makes the skin peel faster, but I am intrigued by his opinion, how am I going to be without ointment on an open wound? ?? You who have been tattooed for decades, what ointment should I buy to speed up the cure?

Don't use ointment. After the tatt is about 3 or 4 days old start putting some kinda hypo allergenic lotion on it very lightly, will keep the itch down. There are specialty products out there called tattoo goo that you can use, if you feel the need to spend extra money

I've always used A&D ointment. Always worked great. Every artist seems to have their own protocol.
There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Scent free lotion for the first 2 days and then A&D is my recipe.

    Yup, each has their own.

    Just don’t let it scab!

My tattooist said to wash it with neutral liquid soap and put poo oil after 3 days.
Tell me more about this A&D ointment, what does it do and where can I buy it?

Most drug stores or Walmart stores have it in the US. It has a slight smell to it, but I like it.

I can understand your concern as I was feeling the same while got inked the first time but I searched for a list of some best tattoo aftercare products at tattoomachineguns on the web and found a reliable one with good ratings named tattoo goo lotion for the tattoo healings.

I've got some very heavy ink in dense color but smaller symbols.

I used bacitracin. Neosporin will sorta bleach it.

I will use A&D right after completion. I then wash it very gently and carefully with antibacterial soap. Day 3-14 i will use aquafor healing lotion. This seems to work for me and i have extremely sensitive skin. Im sure OP has plenty of remedies already just wanted to pass my opinion along
