Happy New Year you bunch of degenerates.

Saw a huge buck in my neighborhood this morning chasing a doe. I rolled the window down and bleated. He stopped in his tracks looking at me. 25 feet away. I’m talking a wall hanger. Damn city limits.

I’ve thought about that deer all day. And about a pistol crossbow.

Why is it the monsters are always in the neighborhoods ?!
I drive into “deer country” and see a couple of does and some spikes....
Never fails, I have seen some trophy class deer a stones throw from my front door and “pistol crossbow” has crossed my mind too

Snowboarding is not something you learn after a certain age. I’m past that age.

Being in Colorado, I snowboard pretty regularly (this year is an exception, fucking Covid). I’ll be honest, I worry about my knees and shoulders on every run, I’m not far from retirement. Considering your average snowboarder is 5’9” and a buck 30...I’d say it’s a tad bit different for us bigger fellas. Riding with my kids helps a ton, no reason to bomb the hill and I just make little turns with them on the groomers. Soon though, they’ll pass me in skill and Dad will be in the lodge drinking hot toddies...I’m totally cool with that.

Good to see you back around big man!

My 9 yr old son took to it in minutes. I put my skis back on after an hour of falling. I actually took the board off and walked down.

Hero to toe edge is tough, it’s definitely not skiing and you have a lot further to fall than a 9 year old. It’s definitely a day being committed to being on your ass and your hands and knees. Im sure it’s too late, but the idea is getting to your heel edge and falling in hill and when on your toe edge, falling uphill to your knees. I’ve seen families have full on melt downs over shit like this and ruining their 10k$ vacation

Funny thing is if I kept my right foot free and just on the board I was fine. Turning left right stopping. Put both feet in the bindings and I couldn’t do shit. Give me skis. Let me turn my knees and enjoy the ride down. Lol

Well I’m sure that strategy helped you disembark from the chair, that’s where you see the majority of yard sales for new boarders, lol. Having both feet in the binding is whacky, especially if you’re a skier. The edge to edge is sooo different too and there’s no “pick and turn” like you do with poles. Where in the country were you? I will say this, speed is your friend on a snowboard. They usually start you on the flat shit which is just an edge biffer waiting to happen. At least you had fun and at least you had your sticks to salvage the day! I made my kids learn to ski before riding a board and they both actually prefer to ski. Trying to teach them to ski on a snowboard was hilarious though, my back just can’t handle it anymore. My wife is actually a better skier than me and she had both boys in a rope harness, made life easier but I swear she secretly hates me for it

(Among other things). Let me know when you come to CO! Our snow is shit so far which I’m secretly happy about because this pandemic has made a mess of this season and Eagle county (Vail) leads the state in cases

Man I’m down south so it was North Carolina. It’s either mashed potatoes or ice. Although Boone NC got 10 inches on Christmas Day.

No gearheaded. Obs dropped by sometime around Thanksgiving I think, but went dark again after a few weeks. As many storms as have rolled though, he may have been dropping trees and getting $$ while the getting was good?

How about you you, man? Life going well?
