Back in November I was sitting in a back room of my house when I heard the doorbell ring. I walked from the back room to my hallway toward my front door, and through the glass of my front door I saw a UPS delivery man walking away from my house getting into his van and driving off.
Here is what was left on my front step:
The box had been ripped open as well as the packaging inside. The most sensible and likely explanation is that the delivery driver ripped the box open to see what was inside, and because it was not of interest to him, he decided to deliver it anyway. If it was not the delivery driver who ripped the box open, then he should have immediately reported it to his superior (if only for fear of being blamed for it).
If I had come to the door and seen the box in that condition, I would not have signed for it. It seems that some drivers are taking advantage of the fact that they don't need a signature during this Covid situation. There are even some reports of delivery drivers placing the item at the door, taking a photograph of it resting against the door, and then taking it away again to keep for themselves.
I have an important delivery coming soon, and I'm gonna try track it live online. When it says "Your package is out for delivery", I'm gonna sit in a chair on my driveway and film the delivery van as it approaches.
I know that it isn't nice to stereotype people, but I find it tends to be a mark against a person's name if they driver for a living: Truck drivers, taxi drivers, bus drivers. Not all of them are human sewerage but a lot of them are. Cuz is alright though when he isn't trying to quench my attempts at humour.
