    Cold Weather

I am surprised no one is talking about this. It is fucking cold here and no one is used to it in my state. Everyone is at the house due to power issues and it is getting on my nerves. I don't think I am really a people person like everyone is telling me that I am. I keep wanting to say "FUCK OFF" and go in the other room but the MRS is making me play nice. The only good thing is my garage is insulated and I am eating the deers we shot this year.

How is everyone else holding up?

Cooped up like a chicken. - 8 here today and - 21 over night. The puppy keeps eating everything he shouldn’t and my kids are bouncing off the walls. Too damn cold to even go play in the snow. I feel your pain brother. I feel grumpy and already like a caged animal with all this Covid nonsense.
At least when it’s spring and summer I can get away and fish...fuck all to do right now. Eating and lifting, could be worse.

    Shit ya it’s cold though!!

I really don't want anything like what the middle and eastern parts of the country are experiencing, but I wouldn't mind a few cold days and maybe a little snow on the ground. It's been in the 60s and 70s here in LA.

I like to run in shorts if I can.

For the last month or so we've been getting snow on and off. So I started running in trousers (and a hat and gloves). But then after one run, I went to take a pee and my groin extremity was very cold -- I didn't have any feeling in it and I'd say I was only a degree or two away from frostbite. So next I got a willy-warmer. And lastly I got a pair of briefs to put on over the willy warmer.

But today it's 51 fahrenheit so I'll just run in trousers and a hoodie, and probably take off the hoody after about 15-20 mins. No need for the extra groin stuff. Hat and gloves not essential.

I think it was about 30 fahrenheit last week when I was running in the snow (and needed groin padding)

Weather is ridiculous here. Last night, we had a tornado about 5 hours away from where I live. It's f-in February, if anything we should get a little thunder snow here in the South, but not a tornado

Okay, diet is officially shit now. All my meal preps were eaten by someone in the house. Fucking people! Made a huge thing of Gumbo and Chile so I didn't have to plan everyone's meals. I forgot how good some food tastes, The food that is not on your diet.

I've got a shellfish allergy. I've never forgotten how great shrink, crab and lobster taste. Every time I see it at the grocery store, I remember.

There are two types of gumbo, seafood or chicken and sausage. Andouille sausage is my favorite, but honestly, Cajon food is really cheap to make and it tastes great. Just not always the best for your diet. A real Cajon will tell you never put shrimp in anything other than seafood gumbo. But everyone has their own way to make it. I never put anything but Onion, Bell Pepper, Celery, Chicken stock, Chicken, Andouille sausage, and Roux.

Recall a stretch in the Midwest when we had negative teens, negative 20’s and then negative 30’s. Throw in the added wind chill and it was beyond ridiculous. Suddenly it was zero degrees out with clear, sunny skies and no wind. It literally felt like spring.

Love my gumbo, etouffee, oysters and alligator stew. Damn, now I have to head back down to New Orleans this Summer.

Onions , celery and bell pepper lol.

I laugh at that because I've lived in Louisiana for many years. Louisiana and east Texas is where I've lived most of my life. And I agree. It's not Cajun if it doesn't have onions, celery and bell peppers. The Cajun trio.

And gumbo, is a simple dish. A good roux, the Cajun trio, and a good protein. And andouille sausage is not Pepperidge farms. Other than that, keep it hot, and simple. You're right.

    Crawfish time coming soon too.

A bottle of whiskey, a pile of Cajun crawfish, with taters and corn...a nice hard on later on...
Pinch some tail, suck some head lol.

I tell people who eat my house, our cuisine is Texijun. At my house, it's Texan, Cajun and Mexican. Makes cutting weight a bitch. But man, I eat good.

Pepperidge farms andouille is just spicy hotdogs. I am making mine with homemade deer meat with pork fat andouille sausage.

Ya know the post office's motto?

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"

Except this makes the fourth day this week my postman was AWOL. I'm old enough that I remember when the mail used to be delivered on horseback, and this is the first time in my life I can remember the postlman missing more than just a single day's delivery. Never before two days in a row. This week presently stands at four no delivery days.

In fact I just came from downtown and saw a guy on horseback. Man riding a dapple (western pleasure?) mare with a rebel flag do-rag tied on his head. Neither him ner his horse seemed to be to be particularly impressed with the ice and snow.

Maybe the post office needs to revive the Pony Express. Then the damn mail could get through. And create a new cottage industry at the same time (picking up post office horse shit off the street).

Just checked out their menu (DAMN!), TY! Got me craving some soul food. Used to have a soul food restaurant out by us in the 80’s and actually bumped into Easy-E a couple of times, lol.

Just searched and looks like there’s a more than doable soul food restaurant about 4 miles away. And, they deliver! Winner winner, chicken dinner!

The AIDS must be in the food. By deductive reasoning, I'd give it a miss.

I'm not the kind of guy who will lie about fried chicken. She's got the best in the world hands down. I'm living in LA dreaming of the next time I get a plate of that chicken. It's like Popeyes' style, but infinitely better.

All these years here and I never tried Popeye’s, but I’m taking your word for it & when I head down there again, it’s a must do!

Could be, he did die several months after. Maybe the wife & I ate a different meal and that’s why we are negative. I think was pure chance because I don’t recall the menu mentioning which dishes were infectious or not.

    Day five without mail delivery.

I can tell by the unmarked snow on the shoulder of the road that it wasn't just me who didn't get any mail, the postman hasn't been down my road.

Lucky for me I wasn't waiting on a delivery of coal.
