    Monoarticular and multiarticular exercises!!!

I was intrigued by the statement of a trainer who said that his clients should only perform multiarcular exercises that worked several muscles at the same time to lose weight. He demonized the monoarticulars saying that they don't work to lose weight. , because there are many variables in strength training. My reasoning is this, one can combine monoarticular and multiarticular in a BI-SET, for example, not giving enough time for the energy storage molecule adenosine trisfolfate to fully recharge. my opinion, as well as bi-set, drop and super series are completely effective with the combination of mono joint exercises with multiarticular exercises.

It could be that there is a time factor Davi in which case he can train his clients in a certain period of time more effectively with multi joint exercises.

However, if you start to include standing exercises like squats, standing shoulder presses or cleans, you have to properly engage your core, so that will add more energy expended and lead to greater fat loss.

Clients that can tolerate giant sets or drop sets had better be pretty advanced in their training, because to do those right, they have to have the tolerance to get past that discomfort. Maybe the trainer is dealing with a more “average” clientele?

He does not distinguish advanced from beginner, in his statement he demonizes monoarticular exercises.
Maybe you are right, maybe he may be directing his statement to people new to the gym. Thank you bro for contributing to this post.

But is there any study at pubmed on this subject?

My pleasure, great thread ! Thank you!

You’re absolutely correct, there is absolutely no need to demonize a particular approach. But that’s how this business runs, trying to make people think that you know the “right” way of training and others are wrong.

Not aware of any studies, but just the more muscles you that use, that should burn more calories.

I personally cannot do many multi joint exercises any more due to injury, but similar to what you said, rely on supersets and drop sets for that needed intensity.

Of course large, complex exercises that recruit more muscles would be better for weight loss if you had to choose.

I do both. No reason you can't do both! Start with multiarticular and then follow with monoarticular.
