    What's ur fav lifting music?

OK just for fun...what is everyone's favorite music to lift to? Doesn't have to be just 1 type.

    My favorites for lifting:

    70s, 80's, and 90's rock
    90s and 2000s hiphop
    70s funk

cardio: same as above but throw in a sprinkle of EDM or house on occasion

My current fav song for maxing or heavy sets:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI-Gjg_vi3A

What are your fav genres for gym and/or what song gets you hyped? If anyone says "the Rich Pianna theme song" I will puke in my mouth and then punch my face.

    What's ur fav lifting music?

Played this playlist during my workout today. In general I’ll play pretty much anything during training but I’ll always do something slow during cooldown.

I tend to listen to the heavier end of music. Occasionally, listen to trance for cardio.
There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Like the guy above, on the heavier end of the spectrum. If I can hear you over the music pounding my ears at the gym, you will get a death glare from me because you are seriously talking too loudly. You might want to check out the metal thread and see if any of it is your cup of tea.

With my girlfriend I listen to trance/ house when we train together, which is almost always. By myself, I’ll throw in some hip hop or heavy metal.

I used listened to music on headphones when training at the gym, but now I just train.

I'd prefer to lift in silence, but unfortunately my gym blasts rap, hip hop and pop shit.

I have had times I am in the mood for silence and don't bring my headphones. But it only lasts 1 time because my gym has a mix of good classics and really bad pop music, so when I don't bring my own headphones I regret it.

I shit you not... my gym plays Gay FM.

It's a proper heavy lifting gym with competitors in bodybuilding shows, and they blast Gay FM all day.

    True story.

I really wish gyms would play a "white noise" that isn't irritating or overpowering, but covers up the talking of others. If people want to listen to music, they'll bring headphones.

I don’t know what gay FM is, but there are gay people In about every profession including bodybuilding so maybe gay guys own or manage the gym?

In the USA we have a gay gym chain. It is called the YMCA.

Ok maybe I should have narrowed it down to just YMCA locker rooms. I made the mistake of going to a YMCA sauna when I was younger. Never again.

I’m a pretty superstitious dude, so anytime I get under 405 or more on BP, it has to be “Broken” by Pennywise. Every single time…

Other than that, metal, 90’s hip hop, classic rock, new alternative. Pretty varied as long as it had some soul

After being subjected to a gym blasting the worst cRAP on earth at deafening volumes, I'd like to just lift with no music and nobody talking. Just the sound of weights clanking and people straining.

I wear slim-profile (like for the gun-range) noise blockers at the gym.
I like no-noise. Also keeps the talkers/yappers away...

Blasted my ears for decades with hard-core, aggressive metal; loud enough to completely drown out conversations & the music played by the gym. My hearing suffered because of it. For the past 4 months, I just tolerate what’s played (they keep it at reasonable levels thankfully) and I’ve adjusted. My hearing thanks me for it & I’m not ready yet for hearing aids (but the time is coming). However, in the car, it’s hardcore, aggressive metal (just not at the intersections).

Every time I go to the gym, I wish to myself that I were deaf. I can't play music in headphones loud enough to drown out the shit they play in there. The management doesn't care about my complaints. They said they're trying to attract a younger hiphop crowd.

But even if I could have them play music that I wanted to hear, I don't know what I'd pick. After turning myself over to Christ, I really can't listen to the death metal and thrash metal I used to listen to all the time. It's mostly about satanic crap and morally I just can't anymore.

The best thing I did was build my weight training space in my house. At the time I trained in commercial academies, they plays sound garbage.

I understand what you're talking about, something very similar happened to me. Some gym hostesses I trained controlled the sound in the gym. And imagine the sound these girls put on; "Funk BR !Sim é a fake Funk" where they only talk about sexuality and treat all women as sluts in the lyrics and still they like it. Lol Well, I listen to heavy metal at my home gym, but only on headphones so as not to disturb the family... You're right about heavy metal and thrash metal lyrics, they're pretty macabre... But that kind of sound seems give you more energy to train and courage to bear the heavy load.

Man did I crank my earphones up in the day; had to, to cover up that horrible gym music & annoying talkers. Hey pal, can you talk even louder on your phone conversation?!?

Understand about the satanic references, never cared for it & never really liked any bands that made them.

Planet Fitness has been the perfect gym at the perfect time for me (and my wife). Even the music is non-offensive & at reasonable levels.

Sincere congratulations on finding & embracing Christ.

you mean politicians talk about the new laws they intend to force on us peasants?

i suppose that would make sense, theyre more gangster than most rappers are anyway.

Good backround music that i vibe with is always a little bonus but I for one cant concentrate on the workout if theres music blasting in earphones. I loose track of sets, reps, rest breaks etc.

Slipknot & Pantera are the standard go-to. If I can hear anyone or anything over that, shut the f up. Regarding the rap post above, if it’s fused with metal like Ice T’s Body Count, hell yeah. Oh yeah, Hell Yeah as well (RIP Vinny)

No. I mean the band Parliament, that all those gangsta rappers had to talk over on their shitty rap albums.
