So I'm at the tail end of my 2-month holiday. I spent 7 weeks in the Canaries, and now a week in Germany. I managed to go this long without catching Covid. I even went into the world's biggest naked sauna complex for the last 4 days in a row, having to take a test at the entrance every 2nd day. All went fine. I've had a good vacation.
So I fly home tomorrow back to Ireland, and I start my new job at 9:30am on Monday morning.
So the complication now is that I have tested positive today. To be sure, I went to two other test centres. All three tests today were positive. By German law, I should now go tell my hostel that I'm positive and then they'll move me to the shittest room by myself to rot away and have an implosive nervous breakdown for 2 weeks.
I did need a negative test to fly home to Ireland, but literally just today the Irish law changed and I don't need a negative test.
So I need to keep this a secret til I land in Ireland tomorrow evening.
I'm not being a total asshole about this though, I'm at least wearing my mask and not walking within a few metres of the elderly. But I'm sure as fuck not missing my first week in my new job while I spend 24 hours a day in a shit room. No.
