Calories are fuel. If you're having a hard time reaching the amount you feel you need, focus on healthy fats. Fat = 9 cal. per gram, carbs and protein = 4 calories per gram.
Avacados, salmon ( skin on and grilled is one of my favorites), if you can get fresh steelhead, don't overlook it!!! Throw some almonds in. Diets are a constant adjustment for most folks unless you're like Kel and just naturally doing things right based on instinct and experience.
Edit: You're pretty active to require 4,400 calories. I'm not saying you don't, but you definitely aren't sedentary!!
