There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

I love watching these strongman competitions. Eddie and Rob are entertaining guys.
Are you gonna watch the fight on Saturday night between Eddie and Thor? Any bets on who’s gonna win?

No bets. Thor has the reach advantage, but Eddie is one tough competitor. I'll be working all weekend, but am going to try to watch as much as possible!!!
Edit: I think Eddie's best bet is to get inside of Thor's reach, stick to him, and work the body. From what I've seen Thor's hands are fast and he'll be a deadly counter puncher for anyone at the end of his reach.Last edited by almostgone; 03-17-2022 at 11:53 AM.

Yeah, it's an interesting matchup. As you say, Thor has the reach and the experience (albeit not that much). Eddie is a ball of muscle with a lot of explosiveness and heart... and a big ass head, which really matters when getting punched. I'm kind of leaning toward Eddie winning, but I'm often wrong on these things.

Well, it wasn't a bad fight. I think Thor is technically more proficient, but on the other hand Eddie had an interesting strategy to handle the height difference.

....and "Respect" to both of them!!
Edit: Make that a double dose of respect, I believe both of them donated their earnings to the favorite charity of the winner.Last edited by almostgone; 03-19-2022 at 06:33 PM.

I didn’t realize they donated their earnings. Hmm not sure that’s the greatest idea for athletes where their window of opportunity is so short. They’ll need the money in their 40s and onward.
Regarding the fight, I was excited in the first couple of rounds when Eddie was connecting and knocked down Thor. After that, the tides turned and Eddie adopted a very weird stance. I don’t know what boxing style Eddie has been practicing the last two years. I was expecting a little more from him, and to possibly try to stay on the inside and hit Thor with body punches and uppercuts, Tyson-style. They actually had an equal 80” reach, even though Thor was 6” taller.
I think it was a better fight than a lot of people expected and I’m glad they didn’t spend the whole time hugging. They had pretty good gas, too, especially Thor. Much respect from me, too.

I was wondering about the stance too. Eddie kept turning his shoulder in and was slouched down. I think he was really hoping that one of those wild haymakers would connect.
I thought the fight was going to end early once....when Eddie switched to southpaw, but was standing square and in front of Thor. That was a pretty good shot Thor got in, but Eddie's traps and neck make one hell of a shock absorber.
I did a double take when they posted the stats and I saw the equivalent reach. Just by eye I thought Thor had a good 6-8" reach advantage.
They went back and forth on the wager going to charity. I'm pretty sure they both are donating 200k, but the article below doesn't walk through it very well. It reads like the fighters were coming out of their own pocket for the eager, but I guess Reign and other sponsors were paying them something?

The fight was much better then I thought it would be. Good job by both guys and they were respectful and professional. Was worth watching.
