Anyone use a Life Coach or is one? Why don't they suggest after sizing you up?
hey everyone
i bought a 2023 calendar already yesterday---to get inspired, but need help tackling difficult life choices as I'm getting older, some of which involve my ailing mother
does anyone have experience positive or negative ones using a "life coach" ?
i went on thumb tack a place where you can find a handy man or other service....
What is the deal with Life Coaches, not suggesting anything after sizing you up, but like doing this: 'oh, it's whatever you think'?
Id think a coach is some dude that sizes your strengths and weaknesses and then comes up with pro-active plans of attacks like actually Coaching!.... lol
I asked one life coach via the chat feature they got on that intermediary forum (thumb tack) and I asked him: u do this to avoid liability?
because hey it sounds like something a psychiatrist would do...a shrink would have ya sit on a couch and then say: 'it's whatever you think....or what do you thiink?" which is just more questions, very lame!
so basically my question is...is it possible to find a life coach that actually coaches after you let them know what your strengths and weaknesses are?
or do they say what that 1 life coach said: I can only help you to discover the truth yourself (again: lame!)
thanks, this old guy could use some advice
happy holidays and best wishes for a great 2023

i communicated with at least 8 of them
none of them seem to coach, but instead help you find the answer on your own
which i guess is somehow supposed to be better (if I could find the answer myself i would need a life coach! Lol )

Get married. Your wife will tell you everything you should be doing that you arent. Isnt that like a life coach?

This works for many people. The Bible says 'Seek me first'.
Over the past 10 - 15 years, I've been around a few counselors, therapists, psychiatrists, pastors, discipleship trainers, yogis, monks, meditation teachers, devotees, gurus, etc.
You should go somewhere residential, like somewhere where they have beds and you can stay overnight. I go to a meditation centre once a year where I do 10 days of silence (vipassana meditation).
You could look for a Christian retreat somewhere, something like a discipleship training course.
Some people go for a week-long seminar in Hawaii with guys like Tony Quinn or Anthony Robbins . . . or go to Poland and spend a week with Wim Hof. I'm not against any of these excursions per se, but I'm weary of the financial motivation these guys have.
Or if you have a Hare Krishna temple near you, you can show up and say "I wish to offer service"; they'll give you a bed and then you'll get up at 4am with them every morning to chant (I did this myself for a month).
And remember if you ever just can't cope with life, you can go to the hospital and go voluntarily into the psych ward. Not a bad place to have a pit stop in life.
