    Brain optimization

So im going to school starting september to learn IT. Im gonna give it my best effort but im pretty certain it wont be easy, atleast in the beginning.

I think Ive heard there might be some supplements that supposedly improve focus, memory and brain function. Im not 20 anymore and have a fair share of smoking weed and partying etc behind me so i started thinking maybe i could benefit from these supplements to be on par with the younger students.

Anybody here have any knowledge or expirience in this matter?

You know those DMAA preworkouts really helped me focus. Good luck finding one, but if you can, 120mg is a good dose.

I’m doing that now and it’s not easy. I smoke everyday. Wake and bake. But I vape bud, and only use a little. When I work at the office I don’t, but damn if I’m not ready to shoot someone by 5 pm.

No clue about any drugs. Try a focus app and coffee. Put in the same amount of time each day, no matter what. Even if you feel like you’re not able to focus, just power through it. Over time, it adds up. If you’re doing the CCNA by any chance, Jeremy’s IT Lab on YouTube is a godsend.

The more time you spend focusing and thinking about whatever you're studying the more it evolves your capacity to do those things. And you shouldn't expect to instantly be able to focus nonstop on your studies. Give yourself plenty of breaks and over time you'll train yourself to be better at it. During those breaks maybe do a few pushups or something to get the blood pumping.

As far as memory and memorizing things goes, make a lot of flashcards and try to find mnemonics to help you remember. But ultimately, you have to practice often if you wish to retain anything.

    First and foremost .
    Sleep and nutrients .

Like another said adderall or modafinil help with that although I think those drugs makes people dumber than they were to begin with .
Microdosing lsd can be of help as well combined with caffeine.
Theres also cordyceps ,lions mane, noopept, piracetam , and a ton of others.
Check out reddits nootropics sub . Ton of shit on there.

    SOLID advice here, brother.

I recently completed my Masters in English, and I greatly benefited from the aforementioned advice.

Adderral can be really shitty. Took it briefly in the past. It made me feel edgy.

To be honest, if you're a mature student, you arent partying every night of the week, and you're living reasonably clean and healthy, you'll be on par with the kids anyway bro.

Get the blood pumping. Good cardiovascular training does wonders for memory and improving brain function.

Several years ago I did a bit of research on memory enhancing supplements (nootropic supplement) I got a very popular stack at the time but it didnt help much because I kept forgetting to take it. lol True story.

You guys hear about that Leo Longevity guy? He popped up on the bodybuilding and “nootropics” scene a couple of years ago and he was recently found dead in Thailand at another popular youtuber’s place. He was supposedly researching and self medicating for optimal brain function. I can’t help but thinking mixing medications that affect the brain can’t be healthy. Also, there is a thing called the “blood-brain barrier” where most things we ingest cannot make it to the brain. So all these supplements we take are mostly a waste, imo. Things that work are always things we can easily have. Rest, nutrition, coffee, etc. people always want a shortcut and there will always be charlatans to provide them with bs.

I did hear yes. But from what i understand he went really hardcore on the supplementing, biohacking and all that kind of shit. I believe there is a natural order to how the body works if you if you medicate and hack and supplement everything to max level, it is not good. The brain optimization i meant as a metafor , not literally. Just maybe some supplements that increase focus and memory, reduce "brain fog" so its a little easier to study. If such supplements exist i could defently benefit from them. But i wasnt looking for anything extreme or controversial

Regarding maintaining focus, interest and concentration - they all will go out the window if you don’t truly enjoy & believe in (by believe in, will this help me reach my goals) what you’re studying . Back in the day it was these little pills called “No Doze” and/or lots of coffee.

I feel like anything that’s going to provide any benefit mentally will cause an equal detriment in some way. Training oneself to focus and behavioral modifications, I believe, are more effective long-term.

No Doze, Truckers best friend (besides coke) and the Friday night must have as well as long road trips. They could be found at any 7-11 counter.

True about you have to be interested in what you are studying. I read websites/forums all day long but put a book in front of me and I read the same page 3 or 4 time and it takes forever. I think for me it helps I am usually being interactive with the page like now. I read a sentence or two and respond.

Why? You are not dumb you have enough courage to take on something totally new why don’t you give it your best shot? I am in IT for 30 years and depending on what you are taking it’s not that hard. Once you got your basics nail down everything is built on that.

Proper nutrition and rest. Everything else has consequences that usually leave you more frazzled and burnt out than you started.

Learning how to structure your studying can help too. Look up the Pomodoro technique.

110% agreed, Ive always relied on something, now at 48 Im trying to break free. I was 100% caffeine free (almost 2 years) but I just started back with some (sugar free now) and my brain is functioning better, need to find a good natural source now and a correct amount.

Having a calm and peaceful mind opens you up to the greatest creativity and intelligence. Human cognitive ability is highest when a person is calm and peaceful.

So if you want to boost your ability to learn and perform well in technical exams, then find something that makes you really calm and peaceful. For some people this means going to church + bible studies + prayer meetings + reading the bible, and for other people it means meditation and yoga. Or long walks in nature.

I don't take caffeine. I only ever have decaf tea and decaf coffee. But back in November, I had my first boxing fight and so I drank a can of red bull before I got in the ring. I was a little worried when I came up on it because I was totally off my face -- I thought maybe I'd taken too much. Not sure if I'll bother with the caffeine next time, mainly because I'm signing up for amateur boxing tournaments and so I'll be boxing more frequently, and so if I were to take caffeine every time then my body would start to tolerate it.

Personally I wouldn't take a drug for regular study. If you were to ask me would I take a drug just on the day of the exam -- or on the day of the fight -- then I'd consider it. But I wouldn't do that more than 2 or 3 times a year.

"My job involves brain activity. That's why I often use different stimulants. I used to get tired a lot at work and take vacations because I felt that my mental health was deteriorating. I work a lot on myself not to get depressed, but any failures hit me hard psychologically. I talked to my acquaintances who have the same problem and they struggle with it in different ways. I was advised to try Kratom pills with natural ingredients, which can stimulate my brain activity. These are 100% natural kratom, where I found the right drug for me.

Kratom (Red/Green) was claimed to be a new miracle pain relieving natural supplement but of course it was 99% hype and marketing. My daughter messaged me about 2 years ago and said she was bringing something over that she was sure I had never heard about that would help with my shoulder & back pain. I asked her if it was the red or green Kratom. I burst her bubble first by actually already knowing about the new miracle cure she had discovered and also I still had some and it didnt work as advertised.

And this. Supplements are not regulated by the FDA, and the companies that make them will claim their products work magic, but in reality the real foundation for success is proper rest, proper nutrition and a strong work ethic. anything of value requires work, and there is no shortcut for that.

also, adderall is a methamphetamine, i cant imagine that taking meth would be good for you in the long run
