started taking paxil 20 mg/day after a death in family for only 6 days, then stopped-
hello
i had a recent deathh in the family and started taking paxil 20 mgs per day for only 6 days
(not the controlled release kind)
i was shocked at the sexual side effects, i'll be frank because i'm over 40 and am concerned: no orgasm after hours with my wife
so i stopped today, because it simply isn't worth it
if this is what happens i might as well take natural anti depressants like st johns wort
and im on a tribulus regimen of natural herbs to increase Testosterone
i read an article that these sexual sides can happen after only a few days of taking an ssri like paxil ...i put the link below...
the article continues that the sexual sides can last for several years after stopping most SSRI (most anti-depresssants, an SSRI is another word for antidepressant), and sometimes be permanent! a
they even got a name for it PSSD and researchers say it was sort of discovered in 2006
how much is this a possibility? i was hydrated during sex with my wife, so even tho these ssri's cause mouth dryness and dehydration, it wasn't that.
so, anyone experience or have used an anti-depressant and then stopped, and then the sexual sides return?
im kinda of still new here so if u cant click the link maybe u can copy n paste it into ur web browser to read the article?
thanks for any help

*Wouldn't the lack of sexual orgasm after only a few days of taking a drug like Celexa or Paxil,im not talkin about problems getting an erection, but just "not finishing" after 2 hours even....even if I am hydrated really good, with no other meds, wouldn't that effectively "male castration" or turning into an asexual,....wouldnt thtat be cause for lawsuits?
my doctor is on vacation so I can't get an answer from him
im kinda of still new here so if u cant click the link maybe u can copy n paste it into ur web browser to read the article?
thanks in advance

All I know is when my prolactin is high I can't jizz. Literally could tear the skin off it and no jizz to be found.

Thankfully, a recent session with my wife allowed to finish the session successfully.
Granted, I took 10 mg of dianabol 10 minutes before and drank a gallon of water
This is worrisome, now I know why some people distrust vaccines, I know what big pharma did with the opiod crisis.
Thank you for your replies
I must have been dehyrdrated a lot with the paxil and also with the Arizona temperature.
Today was actually day 2 without paxi after 6 days of using it, but apparently the threat of PSSD is so scary that I'm never touching that stuff alone even if my doctor recommends it.
My doctor is on vacation. The pharmacist wants details about me.
I'm an old geezer, probably some of you don't remember the late 70s, with shows like Wonder Women and Charlie's Angels,
none of those shows had pharmaceutical ads...it's like big pharma wants to get the patient involved in asking their doctor about such an such drug after making it "enticing" on tv ads, then spitting out a whole bunch of side effects in 'fine print
Thanks for replying.

This is normal yes. I myself and many ppl i know have beeen on anti depressants and have similar effect. While on it takes twice as long and double the work to come. But i woiuldnt say its that bad that hours of rubbing and no effect. So you may have it extra bad. Try different anti depressant maybe? Talk about this with your doctor

Been on Prozac for years without an issue. Though I do rely on viagra from time to time. Almost 65 myself.
Stress (like a death) is a significant cause for the sexual issues.
How about giving yourself some time to grieve, de-stress and then talk to your doctor.
Sorry for your loss. Good luck.
Edit: just looked at the article and immediately raised an eyebrow - almost 100% being affected? If really so, guess I’m a lucky one.Last edited by wango; 04-14-2023 at 03:26 PM. Reason: Added thought
