How did Arnold manage to become governor of California?
A question I've always had is how Arnold managed to become governor of California as an Austrian and not an American. In certain countries, only a native citizen can hold public office, how does it work in the USA?

Pretty sure, most states have allowances for non natural born citizens to run for governor or other lesser public office positions. And those restrictions may vary by state. Restrictions such as length of residency in said state.
President and VP is restricted to persons born in the USA.

To be president you have to have be a "natural born" US citizen (well anyone who was born after the founding of the US). But a governor isn't a president and every state has their own laws regarding it.
Here's what Wikipedia said about the qualifications to be governor in California:
"A candidate for governor must be a U.S. citizen and a registered voter within the state, must not have been convicted of a felony involving bribery, embezzlement, or extortion, and must not have served two terms since November 6, 1990."
Arnold might not have been born in America, but he's has been a US citizen for a long time and hasn't ever been convicted of a felony. He did max out his terms as governor and that's why he stepped down.
But really how he got to be governor was that the previous governor (Gray Davis) was recalled and Gray lost the recall vote and at the same time, they voted for a new governor which was Arnold.
In California if the public believes the governor isn't doing a good job, they can petition to have a recall election to remove him. In order to force a recall election, they needed signatures matching 12% of the number of registered voted for the previous election and the signatures had to come from 5 different counties.
There were a lot of budget problems that occurred under Davis's watch and he signed a bill in to law that gave illegal aliens the right to apply for drivers licenses. So as you can imagine a lot of people were pissed off and signed the petitions to recall him. Arnold campaigned pretty heavy over this and when the recall election happened, bot Davis was recalled and Arnold became governor.

I would support Schwarzenegger if he went for president. He would be a lot better than those other fucking geriatric retards you have running.

Things will only get better, when it gets bad enough for people to be motivated to make changes happen. So I kind of welcome him (or whomever would be worse) to be president. Besides, it wasn't just that piece of shit that is to blame for California's problems. You've got a whole state assembly passing bills for him to sign in to law.

I think he married a kennedy or someone from political dynasty. Im not saying he won office because of that but not bad choice of wife if you plan on running for office

It seems with some people, they are very goal oriented and seek validation from people. With Arnold, it was bodybuilding, followed by movies, followed by politics.
This doesn't mean he was a bad person, these are just traits of a very successful and driven person. I don't know much about his career as governor of California, but from what I remember, he wasn't very popular. I'd take him over any of the last few presidents, though.

Newsom went to China & spoke with Xi about pre-curser chemicals from China needed to make fentanyl (that end up in Mexico) as well as climate change. Pretty good diplomacy with whom we need to view as our number one adversary.
Living here in Los Angeles, my biggest gripe is that I’d wish he’d be more aggressive on the water issue. Other than that, don’t see an issue. If you don’t like California, don’t live here.

I wonder how many red states put together would be required to equal the annual GDP of California? You know, the same states that get subsidized by blue states on a regular basis.
I would post a graph, but apparently this forum no longer accepts images (ie. must be approved, whatever that means). Out of the top 15 states who send the most $ to the Federal government, 13/15 are blue.

It's not the fentanyl that is the problem. It's people the people who want to do drugs that are the problem. Banning fentanyl will just mean those people will find another drug.
And all this "war of fentanyl" has done is it's made legitimate uses of the drug (in a medical setting) taboo. Before this, heroin was the "bad drug."
