I pulled the trigger and finally did it.
I've been wanting to get a new car for a few years now. I've been driving my 91 Dodge Stealth RT TT for 30 years now and although its a fun car it is 30+ year old technology. I have done quite a bit to it and it is pushing a little over 400 HP at the wheels.I've been going back and forth with the idea between a C7 & C8 Corvette. I REALLY wanted the C8 when it first came out and belong to a few different groups so I know what to watch out for but I didnt want to spend the $$$. The C7 are also nice and I'm sure I would be OK with it but its still doesn't have quite the same draw when I look at it. The wife kept telling me to just get the one I REALLY want and I kept looking at C8 but they were just to much $$$$. Well last week I found one that I just really liked. Metallic dark blue. Lots of carbon fiber add on and to top it off, its a hardtop convertible. it was the right price and so I bought it with only 12,000 miles, 2022 and still under warranty. I also got a 5 year extended GM warranty bumper to bumper.I'm flying from Seattle to Arizona this week to pick it up and drive 2000 miles home. Making a 10+ day trip out of it with the wife. Should be fun.

New vehicle prices are out of hand. That's why I drive a truck with over 260k miles on it. I hope to get at least another 100k-150k miles out of it. Still not using any oil between changes ( full synthetic 5w-30).
Edit: Enjoy that new ride, though. Hope y'all have a good trip!Last edited by almostgone; 09-06-2024 at 10:46 AM.
There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

I’m lucky, although my beast is over 11 years old, it still has only 53,000 on it. I sure as hell ain’t going to pay new car prices (well maybe when the mortgage is paid off and I start collecting social security lol). Hey how’s the shoulder/arm & was the carpal tunnel surgery a nice success?

Hey, man. The carpal tunnel surgery has helped! Now if I can only find something to eliminate arthritic nodules; that should generate enough income that I could go ahead and retire. Then maybe I could justify the cost a brand new vehicle!
The left shoulder and arm improve in very small increments, but the ridiculous blasts of pain are only an unpleasant memory.
In hindsight, I wish I had the carpal tunnel surgery about a decade ago and the neck surgery around the same time.
Hope y'all are well on that side of the country. There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

I was feeling the shoulders pretty much Every day driving home from Arizona, 300+ miles each day, 23000 miles in all after visiting friends and driving up the West coast from Eureka California (armpit). I wouldn't recommend anyone going there for any reason unless you like to watch druggies and mental patients walking the streets.
Stopped at a Lot of little towns along the way and had to talk to a lot of people with questions.
Averaged 24 mph with a lot of spirited driving. You know you just have to pass those long line of semi trucks when you can see 5 miles ahead and no one is coming.
I added a little module so now I can open & close the hard top convertible with the remote and don't have to be inside the car to close it or hold the button down to do it.
Also made it to the top of Yosemite national park to see El Capitan.
I see adding pictures is still not available. Seems HTML isnt working either, not even if you put it in yourself. No page breaks.Last edited by lovbyts; 09-21-2024 at 10:17 PM.

A great purchase. A friend has a c5 zo6 and a c6 zo6. Two cool cars. I can only imagine what a c8 is like. A friend has one but rarely brings it out.

Ive already put over 3000 miles on mine. If Im not driving it the wife does. She has fun taking it to work and everyone asking her how she can afford a car like that being a barista. She tells them because she is a gold digger. lolThis is the 1st car Ive had where I haven't even seen the engine yet. lol Because its a HTC it doesn't have the clear engine cover over it (Yet). I am playing with a couple ways of changing that soon. All corvettes have a special place in time and are timeless. Honestly I think the C8 is one what probably Wont be a collectors even though people are collecting them and dont drive. Its to mass produced but who knows. I do know I wont be around long enough to see it become one. lolMan its fun to drive though. Even though it does not have the supercharger or turbos this thing is quick and responsive. My 91 Stealth RT Twin Turbo has a little over 400 hp but it doesn't even compare to the C8 Stingray Z51.

I sold my 2023 z51 3LT C8 stingray R that I factory ordered back in August. sadest moment ever handing over the keys but getting out of a 7 year relationship and getting a new place with 10k in furniture was worth it. That car was a financial burden. $1400 payment and $130 gas every 3-4 days.
