Who is the all-time greatest country artist?
Since Hank Sr. isn't up there, I voted for Big John. I do believe however that Hank Williams started it all. His son is a legend and Hank Williams III can hold his own. RR
No doubt about Hank Sr. and III, I should have said during the 70's and 80's. I just started listening to HankIII and his stuff is the best stuff out there today, I think. Death to pop country!Quote:

You know I keep thinking of ppl I should have added to this list, but thats where the "other" comes in. Chris ledoux is a fav of mine also but you don't hear of him as much anymore. I really like george straits earlier stuff too but his latest seems to be to "Vince Gill" for me. There are some good ones out there right now but like only 2% of todays country music. I got so sick of the cookie cutter music nowadays, I just started listening to Disturbed and such. I think of the 'outlaws' as great story tellers, half these people don't even care what they sing as long as they that big paycheck.
That song is called "Cocaine Blues" It was originally written by Johnny Cash. It's on his "Live at Folsom" cd. RRQuote:

Willie nelson for me
i'm pry gonna get flamed for this, but i think willie nelson is about the worst country singer i have ever heard. :frus:

I'll have to go with Hank Sr. but I'm also a big fan of the man in black and Waylon. Tough to chose.
It's a toss up between old Merle, Waylon, and Johnny.
