BTW...don't think all Canadians like the way things are run in Canada. We just don't have a choice.

What sets Americans apart from the rest of the world is their lack of perspective. Everyone else see the world as 'the grand stage', Americans see America as 'the grand stage'

I hate Canada, i got detained at the border then turned around after they ran a background check on me. I've never actually been banned from a country, but it feels good knowing im such a threat to them I can't even get in!

Dude you have no idea, your border guards are the scariest mofo's in the civilized world. I used to work, in a job that involved extensive travel to USA, with a guy that got the rubber glove treatment because they thought he was "Taking a job away from an American"....some scary shit, and proabably quite uncomfortable.

15 grams of pot and just a fine???? AWESOME. Hope that goes into affect soon. I could make some fast cash and not even worry about getting arrested.
Oh yeah. Boo for Canada I guess. Whatever that story's point was I guess I am for it. I actually hate my neighbor. Damn dogs keep barking til I flood em over with my hose. That shuts em up at 3am. Neighbor probably wakes up always wonders why his damn dogs are always wet in the morning.
That alone makes me have a better day.
I think that was the point about Canada. They are like WET NOISY DOGS right??

Travel to anywhere in the world and see how many Americans are wearing Canadian flags on their backpacks for safety reasons. They fear to wear their own flag on their backpack b/c they know they are disliked and are targets. God's honest truth.

I'm not picking a beef so don't worry.

No offense...but unfortunately your attitude is of the sterotypical American...you don't care about anything or anyone else. Why do some Americans think that way? Broaden your horizons. Travel to foreign lands. Learn about different people and their cultures...try and be more accepting. Once you are travelled you will see the world and its people with a new set of eyes and views.

We as Canadians know so much about your country yet Americans never take the time to learn about our country. Quite sad really as we are such tightly bound neighbours and Canada is the shining example of Mother nature.

MBH, Any American who would wear that patch should be shot IMO. If their not proud enough to wear the colors move north.

And all these hater countries need to quit accepting aid from us if they want to hate on my country. Don't even get me started.

Nothing at all against Canada MBH. After all in 1993 the Montreal Canadians gave us Americans lord Stanley's Cup (to keep from the looks of things). You guys up north rock. Thanks for the cup feel free to visit it any time.

Considering that American hockey teams are comprised largely of Canadian players.. we thought it was fair. That's right, you can't really call your teams "American" when your players are from all over the globe, same goes for us Canadians too. That's what the olympics are for. Oh yeah! we killed you!

Actually, fear of being shot is precisely WHY they wear our flag in other countries.

I hear ya bro. Like I said too...I personally have nothing against the USA...I'm just stating my travel experiences throughout Europe.

As for the Cup...my therapist said I'm getting better.

Actually...we do have the Cup! No joke. There are 2 Cups. The real Stanley Cup is in the HHOF in Toronto. The one you see players holding is the replica.

Exaclty.. I could not see myself hiding behind a socialist/communist symbol for any reason. I have lived for many years outside my homeland and have heard and seen every slanderous piece of anti-American propaganda that you could possibly imagine. It all seems to come from teh same jealous bastard no matter what country i happen to be in at the time. I do however try to keep a low profile, but if someone asks I defiantely speak up and say that I am American. I know we are not the most popular folks on the block right now, but so what!

Being the strongest power for most of the planet comes with a lot of hassles and very little, if any, thanks. Granted almost EVERY country hates us because we have, for the most part, what every country wants.........freedom and power. Freedom to say what we want, worship who we want and complain about the things we don't like without the worries that some Jack-booted thugs are coming to cave our heads in for it.

For a country everyone seems to have something bad to say about all the time we're made up of all the people the other countries kicked out and did not want. Not to mention when the crap hits the fan we are the first country on everyone’s list to lend a hand or money. And when we do we get little if no respect for the effort.

MY country has its problems and has plenty of things I would love to see changed but I've been to third world countries and other parts of this planet and compared to those places......................even on my worst day I am blessed and proud to call myself an American.

    Yeah.
A quote from the middle east. "We hate america because they dont even know why we hate america."
Basically America, a couple years back had no conception of middle east. We had no idea and didnt wanna have any idea of what goes on in the middle east.
Well now we can say we are DIRECTLY in the middle east. Hope that solves their quandry...
Just wait til they experience Mcdonalds and Pizza Hut over there. Then they will love America. Levi's jeans and Coca Cola for every desert dweller.
It is great to poison everyone with our materialistic lifestyle.

I agree with you bro. That USA puts forth so much effort and gets nothing in return. It's like the lend outs are expected from poor countries. They want help, etc. but then the US goes there and it causes grief with the citizens. It's such a lose lose scenario.

However I'm not sure if the world is upset with the US over it's freedom and power. Read Bermich's last comment especially his last sentence and you will see exactly why people get angry with the US.

It's that power trip we seem to push around that I think gets us the bad rap. That and the fact that we are pretty damn arrogant in our belief that we are always in the right and that everyone should fall right in line with our way of thinking. I can for sure see the other side of the coin, so to speak, when people of a poor country hate us for the excess we have. If I was only eating a hand full of rice a day and saw someone somewhere else eating a real meal I'm sure I would hate them as well. Everyone on the planet wants better for themselves and their families.

Bro’s this is just my opinion so I really don’t mean to offend anyone (even my own countrymen) with my view. But if you ever wanted to be thankful of were you live then visit another country……………bet when you get back you’d pay your taxes (albeit you won’t really like it), import fees and whatnot with out a complaint again. God bless Canada, Europe and America! Hopefully one day everyone will not have to say they are proud to be from whatever country they are from but rather they are proud to be a part of the betterment of the human race and look at the other man as what he should be………….a brother.

No man stands so tall as when he stoops to help another.

Canadians have an inferioirity complex mixed with an unhealthy dose of nationalism. Americans are far more cynical about their system of government.

Furthermore, it's a country lacking a strong sense of identity. Which is why Canadians start threads like these. We don't care if you're Canadian!

Both countries have very proud citizens. I’m not sure why you feel such angst to lash out against Canada but this is not a thread to show your abhorrence and bad attitude.

For the record I love living in Canada, probably cause I'm Canadian. One of the biggest benefits Canada has IMO is it's proximity to the USA. Some people I know are anti-USA, but I think being next door to a country that has a lot to offer in terms of educational, employment, and business opportunities can only be a good thing. Not to mention travelling down the Oregon coast!

I take it you derived your educated view of Canada based on your many personal experiences here?

We lack a strong sense of Identity? wow. Well if Identity means taking time out from shooting each other so that we may "come together" as a nation only when terrorists remind us that there is something happening on the other side of the water, then ya, we have no identity.

Yeah, we know you don't care about much beyond your border.

Don't mean to get into a pissing match but your fly was open first.

    Nixter,
Yes my comments reflect precisely on experiences on your side of the border. And from comments like these from MBH:

No offense...but unfortunately your attitude is of the sterotypical American...you don't care about anything or anyone else. Why do some Americans think that way? Broaden your horizons. Travel to foreign lands. Learn about different people and their cultures...try and be more accepting. Once you are travelled you will see the world and its people with a new set of eyes and views.

    Or this one from chicamahomico

What sets Americans apart from the rest of the world is their lack of perspective.

And that Noam Chomsky-esque garbage you just spewed. Two can play the generalizations game.

This is my last post on this thread as it is not an effective use of my time and it seems to becoming a conflict.

MMC78 if you would take the time to read the posts you would see that I was responded to stereotypical rhetorical diarrhea. There's no need for it.

Juggernaut seems to be wise and shows critical thought..."It's that power trip we seem to push around that I think gets us the bad rap. That and the fact that we are pretty damn arrogant in our belief that we are always in the right and that everyone should fall right in line with our way of thinking."

This isn't directed at anyone just the ones who can't seem to grasp the real world......make sure you keep your mind and views narrow...it does wonders for rest of the world.

I hope this all it over now. The last thing we need is fighting between U.S. and Canadian members. Yes I make fun of the the damn canucks but I think they all know its all in fun. Hell my fav sport is hockey and my fav drink is beer. I might as well be Canadian.

To call the Canadian communist is not only ignorant but irresponsible. Socialist maybe yes in some cases. But communist is another thing.

Since I see no value in future posts on this thread consider it locked. Obviously neither side is respectful enough to discuss this issue.
