    Lets try to break a new AR record

    The most members on at one time was 372 on 10-21-2002.........I was kind of hoping that we can all pick a date and time and smash that old record.................I would say October 20th around 9pm...........what works for you guys? ....Think the server could handle it Jason?

    works for me..............but 372 is alot to beat..........probably have to post this in every forum

    Yeah, the server can handle it. Go for it. But, pay attention to the date of the old record. That didn't just happen by chance.

    On that date was the Mr. Olympia. What I did was hit every major website that was posting pics of the Olympia competitors, posted them on AR, then started making posts on other boards to come look at the Olympia pics. It worked like a charm. Everyone was flooding to AR to see the Olympia pictures. You are going to have to count on visitors to break the record. It will probably take a group effort, but it can be done.

    I can write a perl script that can register say 10000 names and put them all online at once.... Just kidding, my l33t days are long gone, im way too lazy to even look at a script these days. Besides, I think i'd cry if anyone ever dos'd AR.

    It's not that easy anymore. Look at the registration page now. You have to look at some box and type in the code to prevent computer generated registrations. Crazy huh?

    If you wanna cheat just have jason change the cookie timeout time to like 100000000 seconds in the admin panel, it'll list everyone that logged in that day as currently logged in.

    LOL, there seems to be one problem with this. Everyone that replied to this thread is on all of the time anyway!

    You have got to find a way to get people here that are not regulars to pull this off.

    Bermich has the right idea. If something was going on for a short time period only, that everyone wanted to see, then traffic would be high. There has to be a sense of urgency.

    bdtr, I can't change the time limit. I was able to help pull it off with the current time limit, if you want to break it you have to find another way to step it up. That's right, that's a challenge.

    Ahh on the old VB boards (prior to beta 3) there was a set cookie timeout limit. You could set it from 0 to 1000000000 if you wanted.

    Yeah I know. And I think you can for VB3 too. But I set it when the board first got installed and haven't messed with it since. I didn't mean that I "can't" as in not physically able to, I meant "can't" as in I won't change it just to beat the record.
