    Wish me Luck Guys

    In approximately an hour and half I will be sitting in front of a panel interviewing for a position in the police academy. Everyone cross your fingers for me please. I'm a bit nervous. Been in the Navy since I was 17 and never had so much as a job interview before. I'm sure I'll do fine...but I really want this appointment so I'm a bit keyed up. If all goes well, I go through the polygraph on Monday or Tues, which I'm not worried about. I've already had two of those and thankfully I've passed all with flying colors.

    Not worried about impressing a **** machine...just these interviewers.

    I did very well. They called me and told me that I'm in. I have a polygraph scheduled on Monday. I'm not worried about that at all.

    Good job Barbi! You must be in one of the states that uses poly's for potential candidates. My state doesn't use them. They're not admissable in court although can be used as a tool for direction. Hate them. Poly's lie...lol

    Thanks again all. I am pretty happy. Once I get past the Polygraph I'm great. Even though this starts out a reserve position......they are looking for female cops and already talking to me about a full-time paid position as soon as I retire.

    Not too keen about staying on this rock but it's a job with a great department and I'm not gonna pass it up.

    It is required to carry pepper spray. You have to know it's effects, etc.

    My cousin got sprayed in the face, and had to fight someone off immediately afterwards...

    My friend got the "foam" version that apparently just clings to you and burns much worse...and he had to fight someone off and radio in...

    Part of the training...plus, at your graduation (at least both of the ones I've been to) they'll play the tapes of everyone getting hosed with that stuff...funny stuff to watch, but I don't envy you at all for experiencing it...

    Speaking of training videos... 2 years ago... they showed a 1 star general that was jumping with the the 82nd Airborn... he was wearing the helmet cam....

    no chute......... all the way down... good thing they didn't have audio.......

    Just got home from the poly. He told me as soon as I was finished. Glad that is over. Out of the 13 candidates, only 7 of us made it to the polygraph. I don't know yet how many passed it. We are supposed to have a meeting soon to discuss the details. I guess I'll know then who didn't pass the poly.

    Women over 30 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.

    For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free". Here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire Pig, just to get a little sausage.
