A deeper voice

Hi everyone! I highly doubt that I'm here for the same reasons that most of you are--I'm not into body building and all that stuff. I'm a musician; a singer-songwriter-guitarist. I'm almost 19 years old (a youngin' compared to most of you!), and I've been in love with the baritone voice for as long as I remember. I absolutely love singing, but I've always told myself I'd do anything for a deeper voice, a baritone specifically.

I understand that testosterone gels/injections and/or steroids can cause this as a side effect in males (yes, I'm a guy). My goal is to deepen my voice, in case that isn't already clear: what's the best course of action?

I honestly don't know too much about steroids. I've been reading about testosterone and have been considering a cream of some sort. What do you think I should do? I've thought about this for a long time and want to try it. So what do you think the most effective way to get my body to develop my vocal folds and deepen my voice further?

It may slightly, and I mean slightly, deepen your voice, but only the proper genetics would have given you the voice you are looking for. Even if the Test doesnt deepen your voice, look on the bright side...it will put a nice layer of hair on your back...no kidding.

Id work with a voice coach...even a few sessions will teach you worlds of things you never knew about stretching your vocal limits/range.

Dont put hormones in your body man, youll regret it.

It might help at your age? Not sure... I think I read once, the deepness of your voice has something to do with how low your balls hang, so the lower you can get your balls to desend, the lower your voice... understanding this, maybe it would be better to use HCG as this triggers the enlargement and desention of your balls and also increases your natural production of testosterone... at your age it might have better results then a steroid cycle which actually would cause your nutz to shrink.

Myself I did not find any deepening effects on my voice from using testosterone.. however I seem to have "lost" my ability to produce a high pitched baby voice that I use to talk to dogs or children. But I think waiting until the age of 38 to do testosterone might have something to do with it... body has set itself and closed off growth plates, etc years ago...

I've been reading up on the effect of testosterone on the voice, and it seems to be absolutely key in how deep it goes. Studies have shown that singers with deeper baritone or bass voices have significantly more testosterone than tenors or altos. From what I've read, testosterone is the specific hormone which triggers the body to deepen the voice, and being that the male body has been shown to continue growing until the age of even 20 or 21 years old, it seems to make sense that by introducing additional test to my body will trigger my voice to continue deepening, much like a second puberty or another growth spert.

Any other opinions? I'm very interested in this! I've heard that testosterone in virtually any form is illegal w/out a prescription... so the creams i've seen at places like 911healthshop or BS or what? Any other ideas?
