help, vial trouble

I was opening my vial and I tore the lid too far down the side. I can just see the rubber part but I tried and pushed the metal tight back down so I couldn't see too good. My question is it still sterile? I don't know if that rubber part is just a flat piece or if it goes deeper, if so I'd be cool. But if it is unsterile now what should I do?
