For you guys that take celebrex, do you have your doc prescribe it for you or do you use an online pharmacy? If you use an online pharmacy please pm me with the one you use. Thanks.

    i take it

only as needed though.some nights my shoulders hurt so bad i can't sleep on them. so in that case i take it. i never take it unless pain is unbearable. i personally get it from a nurse i know because my doctor stopped prescibing it to me because he says my problems are self induced through "extreme training" as he calls it. i don't call my training anything besides not being a pussy and pushing myself to near unconsciousness. that's not that bad!i'll wake up

I'm looking into taking it for a chest and knee injury. Both seem more tendon/muscle related than joint. Do you think celebrex would help?

on a scale from 1 to 10 rate where your overall daily pain stands. That will help me give you a suggestion. Also, do you have any GI ulcers or other underlying gastric problems?

  7. #7
No gastric problems here. Daily pain for my chest is zero, it's just when I get some wieght on it ie. benching. While benching my left pec feels like it's going to tear up near the shoulder tie in. I think I've been overworking it, so I'm laying off the benches and icing twice a day but it still hurts. My knees are probably a 5 through regular daily activity and I haven't been able to squat in a month because of them.

Get soem Ibuprofen bro, it works just as good. Doctors prescribe Ibu @ 800 3 x ed. Or aleive @ 500 2 x ed. Works just as good, and its a ton cheaper.

I've been taking the prescription does of ibuprofen every 4 hours for the last 3 weeks, no success.

Then celebrex aint gonna help ya bro. First try and get some Aleive or Generic Naproxen or Call your doc and get some ultracet. or tramadol.

Why? Ibuprofen has a Cox 1 action and celebrex is cox 2.

i agree with jdawg, Celebrex is not for you. The overall efficacy of nsaids vs selective cox-2s is very much so in favor of the nsaids. There is a possibility that the celebrex may help but its very small. It would help if you could tell me what dose of ibu your currently takeing and how often (do you take it ever 4 hours like you said above??). If you pain is acually a 5 in your knee's you could possibly need some tramadol or ultracet like jdawg said. Your doctor may also consider some opoid therapy....5 is a pretty decent pain score. You need to talk to your doc, im a pharm so if you wish tell him that you discussed it with a pharm . Good luck bro.

Ibu works on both Cox 1 and Cox 2. The studies they have done are all compared to Iburprofen, Diclofenac, and Naporxen. None of the Cox 2 drugs have shown any diff in terms of efficacy between those traditional NSAIDS. Celebrex may be safer on the stomach, but they have only proven that in 3mm ulcers vs Ibuprofen. They have not shown a dif between the two in terms of Clinically signf ulcers (PUBS)

Look on Page 4, under clinical studies. In OA its comparable to Naproxen 500 2 x ed.

    Good luck
Naproxen is about .20 per pill, Celebrex is about 3-4.00 per pill.

Unless your 65 yrs old, have a history of bleeding ulcers you should be fine bro.
Just don't take 1000 of naproxen for a year straight.

Thanks guys, I've been on 600mg of ibu every 4 hours for three weeks. Do tramadol and ultracet have anti-inflamatory capabilities or are they just for pain relief? I've got an oppointment with my doc next week.

Celebrex wont cure it either with anitinflam props either. You best bet might be a shot with some prednizone. Good luck man. Otherwise its wait and see with time.

...just a side note, but Celebrex is great for curing a hang over. My friend is a Pfizer rep and she sells it. Says to take it before you go to bed or pass out and you'll wake up feeling like a million bucks. Just an FYI.

A hangover cure? That's odd, might have to put that to the test.
